Works well, but quality could be better.
I bought two of these because I have two cats. They are definitely not high quality construction, but they've been in use non-stop for a month and are still working well and are still on their first set of batteries. I love that I no longer have to worry about whether the cats have been fed. I can sleep in, or come home late - doesn't matter, the cats are happy.Negatives are the flimsy construction, and like others have said, the D-sized batteries are too heavy for the cheap door. Mine fell off and a battery slipped out, so I lost the programming. Fixed this problem with a strong piece of tape, but I wouldn't move the feeders around too much.No food came out the first time the feeder operated. I think this was because there are little hoppers inside, which need to be filled. I programmed it to run through 3 or 4 times in quick succession, then set it to my normal schedule and have had no problems since.

It worked great for almost a month
I got this feeder for my cat because my boy friend and I were going on a trip for the weekend. It worked great for almost a month. However now it has complety stopped dispensing food. I have tried to reset it multiple times and it still doesn't work. Im just glad it stopped working while I was home and not during a weekend I was gone. If your looking for a reliable feeder this is not it.

Functional, with some issues.
I use/need this item to feed my cat when i go on vacation, I did program it ahead of time and make sure it cycles through the feeding times and amounts I set BEFORE I left it to feed my cat, and I STRONGLY suggest you set it up 2 or 3 days before hand to make sure the times and amounts you programmed are correct BEFORE you plan to let it tend to your pets feeding needs if you leave to go out of town. I will have someone check in with the cat every few days, to make sure as well. I have a few issues with this item, but so far , once its set up, it seems to work fine. First off, it takes 3 - "D" cell batteries, I used "Energizer PRO" batteries, installed them, and come to find out that I cannot fully latch the battery cover with those particular batteries, so some tape may be needed. Next was the setup. The programming is what may be called "Progressive" , as you cant skip to just one setting to change it ( or I couldn't easily)and it may not be clear as to if you did set up everything right after you do program it. Oh, and the sound recording is almost useless. it does record a voice and play it a few times while dispensing, but I'm sure most pets will just consider it an annoyance and not a "time to eat" call. On the plus side, the food tray/dish is securely connected to the dispensing base. The last feeder i had was nowhere as well attached as this one. I am using the lowest setting amount to be dispensed and it seems to come out to about 6 oz or so of dry cat food (IAMS) being dispensed a few times a day. The feeder hopper attaches fairly well to the base unit, the lid is a little loose, but I guess it can be taped to the hopper if you have a pet that wants to bypass the set feeding times. If you need to have a large amount of food released, the feeding tray/dish does fill up quite a bit, but hopefully if you need that much your pet/pets will empty it before its next dispensing cycle. Id ask for better programming and making sure that the battery compartment closes better if it was redesigned.

Overall it works.
This feeder works just fine and it helps me to better measure the food portions for my dog. There are only a couple of things that I wish were better. Setting up should be more intuitive and user-friendly, but I got around that after a couple of tries. Thanks structures are really not that helpful. What really bothers me about it is the recordIng. The sound is simply ridiculous and one cannot understand a thing. I had to delete the recording. All in all I still give it a four because it works as advertised. As long as you don't count on the recording part this machine does the job and I do recommend.

Timed feeder that cant keep time!!
Bought this feeder about 2 months ago for my cat since I have to travel frequently and she is left alone. one day i came home to my cat meowing like crazy and come to find out the timer wasn't feeder her or feeder her at different times than scheduled. after realizing this i started to pay attention to the feeding time and the clock which the timer is set on. I would set the clock and by the end of the day it would be 4 hours behind, than i noticed it would drop food sometimes twice within an hr when it was suppose to feed every 8 hrs. other times it would skip right over feedings. This products entire purpose of this product is for timed feeding and the clock cant even keep time. I would 100% not recommend this product because i don't trust that it'll feed my pet if i have to leave her alone.

You can set a recording if you like (I guess to "call" your pet when it's time) ...
I have been using this for about a month now. It works perfectly. My cat knows when it's about time to be fed and comes running. You can set a recording if you like (I guess to "call" your pet when it's time) but I didn't do that. He just knows when it's getting close to time.
