much less awatch but I wanted something special and unique
DO NOT BUY THIS! I purchased for my husband's 50th birthday gift, a BIG deal for me to spend this much money on anything, much less a watch but I wanted something special and unique. Needless to say it is a dress watch, he wore it a handful of times out to dinner. Woke up one day and the crystal was shattered. I was told this was a flaw and had since been reconciled. I followed warranty instructions, mailed it to a 3rd party watch repair shop. They had it 6 weeks. Returned it repaired. Scratched but okay, I'll take that......he wore it 2 more times, not to work, just a nice dinner out, looks down and the same thing again, a shattered crystal! So I email the manufacturer because Amazon will not help and I am told too bad, follow warranty instructions AGAIN. Oh, and he must have hit it on something, they don't break themselves! REALLY? My husband has multiple watches as do I and neither of us have ever had this happen....buyer beware!!!!!

I like the concept of it but the quality just isn't ...
Interesting concept. One of my lugs were slightly bent when receiving. I have a fair amount of watches and I purchased this one to be a little 'different'. To be honest I should have just sent it back because it just sits in the display case. I like the concept of it but the quality just isn't there. I can feel the rotor turning on my wrist, the dome is too high, the crown is too small and cheap feeling, the lugs are too thin and the band (while comfortable) is just cheap. Spend this amount on a better brand that understands quality.

Know what you're buying: a statement piece, but not an everyday watch
I've had one of these since their original kickstarter run and have worn it on many occasions including traveling with it. Here's my take after several years of ownership:It's a statement piece on your wrist. You will get compliments on this watch, people will ask "how do you tell the time" Part of this is the interesting dial layout and size (it's big and it wears big. For reference i have a 7.5" wrist)It's fragile (the domed crystal). Yes as another reviewer mentioned, the dome is so prominent that hitting this watch or crushing it will break the crystal easier than a traditional flat or less prominent dome. I've had to replace my crystal (manufacturer warranty) after it was "pressed" in my luggage and shattered. A dedicated watch case probably would have protected it just fine, but significant pressure or a strike will break the crystal in my experience. (In their second release of this watch they went with a flat crystal which probably goes to show they learned from this design flaw)It's not a dress watch. A dress watch generally follows a few aspects - understated/simple/legible; slim enough to fit under the cuffs on your sleeve; and shiny. This really doesn't fit well as a dress watch (although I'll admit I've tried on several occasions) it is far too thick to fit comfortably under normal sleeves and it's definitely not understated/legible.Conclusion: The halograph (first generation) is a fun statement watch that sparks conversation/interest in what's on your wrist, but it's by no means an everyday watch or a traditional dress watch. It's a fancy/fun casual watch that you need to need to be aware of its flaws to enjoy. This watch gets the least wrist time of my collection, however I don't plan on selling it anytime soon. If you like the alternate time-telling/aesthetics/design but want something more practical you should take a look at their halograph II releases (which I also own); IMHO they improved everything in the second release and it fits its identity much better.
