AjustLock Zinc Slide Bolt Lock

I noticed some reviewers stating that they didn't like this slide bolt lock due to the fact that it would be easy for someone to simply unscrew the screws they used to mount this lock. When you see square holes in any mounting plate NOT ROUND holes, this is so that you can use cap bolts. For those that are not sure what a cap bolt is, they are bolts that have a slightly rounded head and just beneath that head the shaft is square. This square will fit in the mounting bracket of the AjustLock Slide Bolt Lock, then as you tighten the nuts and lock washers on the inside it will prevent the bolt from turning. With cap bolts there are no slots for any type of screw driver!! On the small part of the lock where the bolt slides into it, these are round type holes and I did find some small cap bolts that worked just fine. The square on the cap bolt will grab the metal enough to tighten without spinning! These slide bolt locks are very well made and a person would have to take some time trying to cut them to gain entry. However, these are not made to put on your vault where you keep your cash! I use them for my out buildings and for the price I have two on the out building where I store my more expensive items, quad, riding lawnmower etc. Remember, CAP BOLTS NOT SCREWS!

Work for my purpose, very cheap soft metal, easily bent, not good for security, screw go out in open where they can be removed easy for any one wanting to get in lock room or building.

Bought the 2-1/2 inch version from the local big box home improvement store. These are the absolute best barrel bolt I've ever used. I've built 100s of gates, chicken coops, baby gates, dog gates, rabbit hutches, etc over the years and none of the barrel bolts have been this good. The reason they are superior is because of the flared and sliding receiver. Much more forgiving during installation than other ones I've used. Also over time as wood swells, dries, and warps other barrel bolts will begin to get stuck. These will not. I'll not be buying any other brand in my lifetime. Thanks guys.

I do not care for this slide bolt. In a horse stall application over time (less than 1 year) 4 out of 4 stall latches have to be replaced. In the far forward (locked) or far backward (open) the slide bar will simply fall out of the support brackets. The bar is not long enough to prevent this. A simple adjustment in length of the slide bar would fix this.
