STRIKE THE BLOOD - COMPLETE TV SERIES DVD BOX SET ( 1-24 EPISODES )

I first saw this on Crunchyroll. I liked it so much I bought the disks. This is a Blu-ray/DVD combination package. It has two Blu-ray discs and 4 DVDs. The audio quality is great. There is no English dub though which is no real surprise as this is a "Crunchyroll edition". This doesn't bother me too much. The subtitles are pretty good but if you want an English voice-over then this isn't for you.Each of the blu-ray disks holds 12 episodes for a total of 24 episodes in all.This is the story of Kojou Akatsuki who was a normal high school student before he became a vampire and the fourth progenitor. The Progenitors are vampire warlords who control large domains and were responsible for the peace treaty between humans and monsters. The problem is that there are only supposed to be three of them. The episodes take place on a manmade island where humans and monsters live together.Of the two disks the first one (episodes 1 - 12) is the best. It has a lot of action and a light-hearted sense of humour as Kojou grows into his powers and gets used to his observer. Such a powerful vampire can't be left un-attended after all and he is followed by Himeragi Yukina who is a sword shaman of the Lion King organisation.The second disk carries on with the adventures of Akatsuki and Himeragi but has a darker tone. The stories in the second disk are darker with less humor. The final two episodes are a bit bland and it seems like they weren't expecting to get the full funding for 24 episodes and when that funding was granted they hadn't written anything.This is overall a light-hearted, harem anime with some good action sequences. There is a bit of fan-service with one very brief moment of female semi-nudity (topless). The characters are generally well rounded and the script is decent enough. The stories move along swiftly and are focused without too many digresions.This could support a third series as there are enough unanswered questions to fill at least another 12 action/fun/funny episodes. Highly recommended.

The product contains all 24 episodes for this series on several disc of Blu-ray and DVD. There is no English dubbing as far as this version of the product goes. Captions are in gold and displayed texts and notes in the show are captioned as well for English viewers. Extra features are negligible. The picture quality is fine as any anime goes. All the standard skip points are available so if you don’t care to watch the intro and end credit over and over between episodes you have the option to skip over. A fairly clean anime as far as nudity and gore goes with exposure to either being extremely limited. Think just barely passing PG-13 rating. It’s an action/romance/vampire sort of story. Vampires can walk in daylight and ‘demonic’ creatures are living peacefully with humans on this artificial island. The main character Kojou Akatsuki was originally human until inheriting the ‘curse’ of vampirism from some progenitor vampire, which occurs off-screen, and is now the fourth most powerful vampire in the world. Trying to hide his condition from everyone around him, Kojou is joined by the spearmen mage warrior Yukina, who addresses him mostly by ‘Senpai’, was dispatched by an organization to monitor his everyday activities. In various situations they find themselves in it becomes necessary for Kojou to utilize his arsenal of familiars to overcome the current problem. However, being a new vampire the familiars refuse to listen to their master until he partakes in the drinking of someone’s blood; thus the story progresses in a vampirism romantic form. They are joined by a number of supporting casts; several other female characters, two males, and a little sister. Apart from the sister, each of the females and one of the males is vying in their own way for Kojou’s affections. With various quarks that make them unique, each supporting character appears in most of the episodes. A good buy for a story such as this with a reasonable actual ending.

The description for audio said its was supposed to be both Japanese and English but thats not the case its just Japanese, other than that its fun to have when yout network is downand you cant stream videos.
