Average Headset With a Design Flaw...
I've used this headset for over 3 years now. There are plenty of good things about it, but also plenty of bad things depending on the user. Overall it makes this headset average at best in my opinion.** THE GOOD- The quality of the headset is fairly good. 3 years of heavy gaming use and it is still operating good as new. In fact the headset itself looks fairly new as well. The padded ear cushions are still as fluff and soft as out of the box.- The microphone is located on the RIGHT side and produces a fairly good quality signal- Plug-n-Play works great! Not one problem on Windows XP SP2/SP3 or Vista- Audio quality of the speakers are fairly good. Audio comes out crystal clear and reproduction is pretty decent quality nearly equal to that of a decent sound card- LED indicator to let you know if you have Power (solid blue) or are Muted (Flashes)- Adjustable headband** THE BAD- While the USB cable is thick and sturdy; the cable leading from the right side to the "soft touch" control is thin. While it works fine it doesn't seem sturdy enough to handle being pulled on or accidentally tugged so handle with care!- Soft touch feature is really SOFT TOUCH. In fact, you might bump against the mute button (which happens to be 90% of the soft-touch button panel) and mute yourself without even realizing it. A simple 'beep' notifying you a button had been pressed would of been nice.** THE UGLY- If you wear glasses (like myself) you might have a small problem. While the earmuffs themselves are fairly comfortable they do fit "snug". This can cause them to press your ears into the branches of your glasses and lead to headaches or just discomfort....To remedy this problem you can either slip a cotton ball between your branch and ear. Depending on your glasses, lift the branch slightly so it isn't behind the ear. OR wear the headset loose instead of securing it to your head. (leave some play in the adjustment)** OVERALL perhaps 3 years ago this was a good headset to own. It is a simple headset which does its job well, and outside of my concerns with the thin connecting cable from the "soft touch" to the earpiece, the headset is built to last. The audio quality is decent and the speaker quality is exceptional for the price. I do not regret my purchase one bit (back in 2007). HOWEVER, this is 2011 and there are better alternatives on the market now; especially for someone with glasses and multiple gaming systemsWith that in mind... I recommend the X11 (for PC/MAC/360 owners) or the P11 (for PC/MAC/PS3 owners) Both products are by Turtle Beach and are in the same ballpark $-wise... If you want to splurge get a 21 series line. (better audio drivers)

100 bucks New?!! LOL
I bought this headset about 2 years ago at Walmart for approx 29 BUCKS (not 100 dollars. I wanted to buy a cheap 15 - 20 dollar headset but this was all walmart stocked at the time so I reluctantly made the purchase hoping that the sturdy looking set would at least last longer than the usual flimsy sets I would buy. IT DID. This headset lasted me 2 yrs.. and the only reason I think it broke is that my 2 year old got hold to it and sound stopped in one ear.. then another ear soon after. I went back to walmart hoping they had this headset still but... they replaced it with a different model. I was bent on getting the same headset again since it lasted me longer than any headset... and I use them a lot... gaming, skyping, listening to movies on netflix... so I was pretty impressed it lasted 2 years. So I hopped on amazon found a few sellers who had them brand new for around 30 - 40 bucks... this was about 4 months ago... I also saw I could buy a refurbished one for 11 bucks. Thinking refurbished might be a brand new one that had just been returned for whatever reason but not a defect... I took a chance and purchased a refurb one for 11 bucks. That one only lasted me...4 months :( which is why I hopped back on amazon looking to go ahead and buy a brand new one again... and also why I titled my review 100 bucks new? LOL b/c that is about 70 dollars over priced. My advice... dont spend more than 30 on this. Good Headset. Accidentally mutes b/c the mute button rest in your lap and you can easily press it without knowing... happens to me all the time. Good Sound.... never had an issue with hearing people or people hearing me. The cord was fine for me as long as I was careful with it... don't tug on it and go crazy because it won't stand up to all that... and remember... I used mine heavily for two years w/o a problem until my daughter got hold to it. If I could improve on anything it would just be the cord. I think I'm going to look into wireless this time. that is all.

Audio Quality is fine, but they are a little uncomfortable
I bought 2 sets of these of these, primarily for use with Skype. From an audio perspective, the combination of a good headset and a VoIP client blows the socks off of traditional telephony (which is limited to an 8kHz spectrum) and large TelCos should be very nervous :)Windows XP accepted the device with no fuss on 2 different machines. The earpieces are a little hard and I can't imagine wearing these fulltime, but for Skype calls, they're ideal. The boom mic swivels allowing you to flip the headset around depending on whether you prefer the mic on the left or right. The clarity is great, however.A trick for Skype users: because this device is actually also a sound card, each time you plug and unplug, Skype may switch which device it attaches to. This can be annoying, as it may lock on to the headset and divert the ringtone to the headset and not your speakers, so you may miss a call. You can work around that, however, by setting Audio Devices in the Skype Options menu on the Tools drop down.I have set it to use my Speakers for the ringtone, but the Headset to be the Input/Output device. Remember to DISallow Skype from changing this in the future (there's a checkbox on that screen)Now I leave the headset plugged in 24x7 and still hear the Skype "ring" on my PC Speakers. Finally, the price. These were $15 more expensive in a large big-box electronics store. For this price, these are a no-brainer!
