THIS IS A BOOK WORTH KEEPING FOR!
First of all, I'd like to congratulate Chris Thompson for having this book published. I can assure him that this book is worth buying for and really worth keeping for. You are already sharing your knowledge and your words with a lot of people reading this book and by that, I want to say, you truly are the man!I loved this book, simply for the reason that it talks about discipline and discipline is hard especially for me. This explains and gives me an insight on so many things regarding the discipline I needed my whole life. I am amazed that love was among the essential principles that made Spartan's warriors successful on the battlefield. I didn't know that but I really am a fan of Greek Mythology.I love the lines "The greatest force for overcoming fear is love."“The Spartans do not ask how many are the enemy, but where are they.” - PlutarchThey were shared in this book and I can say that I got a book to keep for myself and to share the things I learned here and I will learn to my buddies. Kudos to Spartan Discipline! I would like to buy the other book now, Mental Toughness!

it is easy to forget that there are other ways to guide ...
I felt inspired as I read this book. When you live in a culture that does things in a certain way, or acts in certain normal ways, it is easy to forget that there are other ways to guide your life. This book provided me with a look into the Spartan lifestyle that went beyond what I had heard before. The author says that although they were a warrior culture, they were much more. Their success on the battlefield had to do with their mindset. The author describes the principles that guided the Spartan warriors life, and then relates that to modern psychology. Awesome! That was very insightful to me. I hope to harness the new sense of self discipline and motivation that I have since reading this inspiring book.

Needed better editing
The information and insight that is in the book is good and useful but there were a lot of grammar errors and it made it a bit difficult to read. The editor and proof reader could have did a lot better job with this book.

Perfect read
This book surprised me honestly. The only thing that I disliked was that there were a bit of typos, however it was straight, direct and to the point. I like that in a self help book. The information is strong and delivered well. I can honestly say I enjoyed and will take more from this than books I've read by Tony Robbins. Because Tony beats around the bush for 500 pages, while Chris lays it out plain and simple. Beautiful work, keep doing what you're doing.

Old wisdom brought to a new world
I was inspired by the wisdom of Ancient Sparta - the mindset that kept their warriors going. Despite their disappearance, their culture is very much alive today - passed on to us, in our world. I find it always wonderful to be able to learn old ways and find the means to apply them to our current lives.

Indian philosophy thinly disguised as Spartan discipline.
Not what I was expecting. Mr.Thomson is no Lazenby and this book is not about overcoming temptation. One would do better to buy The Spartan Army (Stackpole Military History Series) by J. F. Lazenby (2012-07-01) if interested in the Spartans. After an extremely brief and subjective summary of their culture he launches into new age so-called "mindfulness" which is a modern misappropriation of the word which used to mean, "a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique." but in this book really means "casting discernment and sound judgment aside while emptying oneself of conscious thought" as taught by religious Yoga teachers for centuries. Yoga is an inherent part of Hindu philosophy which teaches man and nature are one with divinity. Although Kundalini Yoga is popular every Christian needs to understand that Yoga is a forbidden practice. Scripture declares, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me"(Exodus 20:3). Kundalini is an anti-Christ spiritual counterfeit of the Holy Ghost. Mr.Thomson uses the guise of self-help and history to induce the unwary to cast aside sound judgment and open themselves up to a demonic power through New Age meditation techniques that have nothing to do with either Sparta or Christian meditation techniques. While reading this book I had a Déjà vu moment from the movie Hunt for Red October, where Captain Ramius says, "Your conclusions were all wrong, Ryan..." The Hunt for Red October
