Haunted Highways,,....with sideroads and locations
It is a good and interesting read, there are some stories that are just repeats and you will have probably heard of them before. It is broken down where each story is a chapter and most are not to long and if you want to skip one that is fine, there are some that take place in Hawaii and I did not find those that interesting so I skipped over them. I was a little dissapointed that not all the storys actually stuck to The Highways which was what I was really hoping for so I will probably try the Haunted Truck Driver Story Novel. I do recommend this book, it is interesting but will not scare you that much. I also found myself researching in more detail some of the storys.

Haunted Highways for that little tingle of fright delight!
This is my 7th book I have purchased by the author Tom Ogden, and I love every one of them. I sometimes read them before going to bed. I must admit though, sometimes the stories keep me tossing and turning. They do give me a chill down my spine many times. I do believe in ghost like humans and animals since I, personally have experienced them. Tom has a humorous twist and is very creative in his retelling of the spectre encounters of real people and those beyond the real life. They keep me wanting to go back for more and I will be purchasing more of his works for sure. He does a great job with interesting information and stories of these ghostly events.

Great Stories
I like the way the author has written these stories. Some of them I would recommend for reading out load at slumber parties as a new version of the old chestnuts told. I did find the story of the disappearance of the diplomat a little difficult to follow. But since I am a speed reader, I will go back and read it a little slower to see if I missed something during my normal speed read. (I can read a 500 page book in under five hours.) Do give this book a try.

Good for what it's worth
There was really nothing new or that stood out in this anthology of legends and accounts of highway ghosts and definitely nothing that sent shivers up my spine. Some of the stories are genuinely interesting, but the majority, in my opinion, is a hit and a miss. Honestly, the most interesting aspect of this book is reading of the history from which many of these legends were born.I don't regret the purchase as I'm a fan of paranormal myths, legends, and accounts, but I've read better.

Not what I expected
I work the graveyard shift. Right now it's 2am on Halloween morning. I brought this book with me to read tonight at work, accompanied by some spooky music. Anyhow, I was quite a bit disappointed to discover that the stories are written in short story form. I was expecting first hand accounts, told as such. And to make it even less appealing (to me) is that in the introduction the author states "in some cases I've taken the account and fictionalize the story" for "dramatic purposes." That's fine if that's what you're looking for, but I was looking for true accounts told by those who had the experiences.

Tacky-looking covers
The only thing I don’t like is that the book covers look tacky. They are in excellent condition but the way that they were printed doesn’t look professional like the covers on other Ogden books I have.

Interesting Stories
I found the stories fascinating and was especially enjoyed the two chapters about Hawaii. Anyone who grows up in Hawaii knows those stories and most likely knows someone who claims to have heard the Night Marcher's drums or seen or picked up the elderly lady asking for a ride...I enjoyed this book so much I looked for other books by Tom Ogden and just started reading Haunted Cemeteries.

New Way of Looking at Events along Highways
Tom Ogden is one of the best haunted mystery writers, I've read. Can't say enough about the quality of writing and the background info he gives on events leading up to haunted areas.Even, if you're not into haunted stories, the background info is so detailed and well written that it's worth reading it for that alone.

Could be much better
Some of the tales are interesting, but the writer simply isn't good enough to turn each entry into a "short story".
