The Meteor Man

An action comedy superhero movie long before the Marvel ones dominated cinemas. Its got a charm and vibe all its own. Its a great hero movie that if they retold it to modern audiences I believe it would be a MASSIVE hit. This one is full of many stars, and is one of the best comedies of the 90s.

I loved watching this as a kid and happy I have it now.

I know this isn’t a cinematic masterpiece, but I love it because it was my first time seeing a superhero that looked like me. Black Panther didn’t come out until I was 30, so this was extra special to me and my generation of black children. And honestly, I still enjoy watching it in the present day.

sorry but it's crazy in this day and age to be selling blu-rays without subtitle tracks. this movie is phenomenal though, but anyone who requests on subtitles should look for a different release that includes them.

Before there was "Black Panther Movie" or a "Spawn Movie." There was Meteor Man. With a all time great cast of black actors and actresses, this is a story of a hero who is reluctant to be a hero because of fear. Robert Townsend character "Jeff" is trying to make it in his neighborhood that is being terrorized by a group of gang members called "the golden lords." One night while being harassed by these gang members he is hit by a meteor from outer space and given all kinds of super powers (Super speed, super strength, super hearing, 30 seconds of book knowledge, ability to fly, and other powers). After being reluctant to help because of fear an incident leads him to decide to fight for his neighborhood. Despite his best efforts he goes through a time period where things get worse in the neighborhood and he loses his powers. He ultimately teaches the neighborhood that you don't have to have powers to be a super hero and that the neighborhood has more strength than they thought. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen and I recommend it to all to watch.

Such a fun movie. Has a lot of heart and a good message behind it. Special effects don’t hold up but doesn’t matter, is a good family watch.

Classic movie! Had a great time sharing this film with the family! Kids really enjoyed it.

This was one of the first super hero films i had ever watched, and will always remain a favourite to me. People talk about Luke Cage been grounded and in the hood, but they definitely must have taken some kind of inspiration from this movie. Dealing with gangs taking over the neighbourhood and one man with the ability to stop it. It's just a fun movie, featuring many great actors who everyone will recognise! If your a super hero fan then i highly recommend this movie! Probably one of the best to come out in the 90's, and the soundtrack is amazing too. You won't get a super hero movie with new jack swing in it anymore!

METEOR MAN as never been released in the UK on DVD or Blu-ray before so I decided to buy the US Blu-ray Import. This release is region A locked so you will need a region free player to play the movie. Sadly there isn't any special features aspect from a movie trailer of the movie and there's no English subtitles available, that's why I gave it 3 stars.

I love this film always have, always will. Yes it's a little light on the realism but what's wrong with that? Who wants a serious film all the time, sometimes all you need is a good laugh and this film has it in spades.

Dated compared to other superhero inspired themes but still works Townsend delivers very good independent movies
