Spying on raccoons is surprisingly easy
Excellent trail camera. Works day or night, takes photos or videos, has pre-set choices for different needs. Even a technophobe like me can operate it. Now I know how the deer were getting into my garden. Also confirmed my cat does use her water fountain, but only when no one is watching.

High marks for picture quality, ease of use, and appearance!
This is the fifth trail camera I have owned, and so far, it is also the best. I first owned a Bushnell Trophy Cam HD that I found at a tag sale. It worked well, and image quality and audio was good, but there was no viewing screen, which meant checking and adjusting new placement more time-consuming. I chose the Bushnell Core S-4K no glow camera this time based on reviews and best trail cam lists. I love the camouflaged casing. The gray blends in better with the trees on my property, many of which are oak. This model does have a viewing screen, so positioning is easy. You can also view captures on the screen, although I remove the SD card and look at videos on my computer. Programming was easy and well explained in the instruction manual. I wish the timestamp could be am/pm and not just 24-hour, but that is a minor issue. What I am most thrilled about with this model is the picture clarity. I use my trail cameras to view the wildlife on my property, so the video quality is critical for me. Everyone has commented on the improved clarity compared to my other cameras. An added bonus is the hybrid mode option. When this is selected, the camera takes a certain number of pictures (determined by the user) and then starts video. I have found that it is more likely to capture an animal moving quickly through the area, which is often the case with coyotes and bobcats, for example. in short, this camera gets high marks from me for picture quality, ease of use, and appearance.

Nice pictures but difficult to control
Very good picture quality. But the camera has too much a mind of its own, sometimes causing no recording, no illumination at night, or absurdly short recordings. This happens also with a combination of settings that should not be affected according to the user guide; it took systematic experimenting to find settings that avoid these problems to a certain extent. The camera is advertised as having a response time of 0.2 sec, but for video the response time is 0.5 sec.

Motion sensor is terrible
I have been really disappointed with this camera. If the only thing you are buying it for is deer then it might be fine, but if you are hoping for pictures of anything else forget it. I bought this camera specifically to find out what is killing my chickens and hopefully get some time stamps to establish a pattern. I had one recently killed chicken that I put ten feet in front of the camera and left it over night. The next morning the chicken was gone and not a single picture had been taken. A separate time I even watched a hawk land 3 feet in front of the camera with the camera positioned close to the ground so the hawk basically landed right in front of the lens and not a single picture was taken. I have managed to take pictures of deer with this camera though, so I suspect that foxes and hawks just aren't big enough to register on the motion sensor. Pictures are decent when they actually get taken, but this thing is useless for the purpose I purchased it for.

Best I've used
Batteries last a very long time. Batteries are from August 2024 and still have plenty of power left. Captures adequate photos of animals stealing vegetables from the garden. Much more reliable than some of the less expensive cameras. You get what you pay for. This camera is top notch.

I am really pissed of with this cam.
When it does take a video its great. I just downloaded 10 videos of bucks out back and only 1 of them came out. This is junk and I would like it replaced ASAP

Superior images in both daytime and nighttime modes
I own three trail cameras (Browning, GuardePro and now the Bushnell CORE S - 4K. The Browning and GuardePro were their most expensive models without WIFI. The Browning takes good (B grade) daytime and B- nighttimes videos. The GuardePro take B+ nighttime video and D quality daytime photos. These images have hardly any dynamic range and are overexposed. I have just owned Bushnell for one week. I purchased it because I was looking for better quality video and I trusted the name. I own a Bushnell Range Finder for golf. Optics are excellent in it. Happily the Bushnell Trail Camera Video is far better than either the Browning or GuardePro. Images are well exposed, especially in daytime video (A- grade) and nighttime is also very good (A-). Also the Bushnell lens seems to give better depth of field, so that close images are more in focus than the other brands. I don't know about battery life with the Bushnell yet. The Browning is terrible!!! Brand new batteries which are supposed to last several months, lose their charge to 34% in one week! I called their customer support and they recommended using only Energizer Alkaline Batteries. So I bought some and they are not better than Duracell.

Camera sensor inadequate
The photos are clear close up if the sensor detects the animal. However, it is not good for small animals that come in to feed and then dart out of sight such as foxes. You get pics of missing food without the diner! The sensor does not deploy to alert the camera to snap the picture quickly enough. Animals that linger and eat slowly like opossums are captured. While close up pictures are clear those in the distance 10 feet and over are dark. Also had problems with Bushnell. A week after we had the camera we called the help line. The rep said the sensor was probably defective and would send a replacement. It never came. We waited for the replacement to send ours back. Thank you Amazon for stepping up to the plate and refunding the cost since I was 3 days over the return period because I kept trying to contact Bushnell to check on the replacement. All lines were ALWAYS busy no matter when I called. The calls were disconnected. 2 weeks of calling with the message yesterday that the company was experiencing "a higher than usual amount of calls"!

Great images, shame about the movement sensor.
I have an old Bushnell HD trail camera which works very well but the imaging technology is showing it's age, so decided to upgrade to this much much later Bushnell model. Whilst the image quality in both day and night is very good. The movement detection just doesn't seem to work. Tried playing around with the various settings but no joy. It work with obvious movements such as people walking close by, but will not trigger on mice or rats (which is what I want it for), plenty false triggers on rain though. The old model movement sensor has no problem but this newer design just isn't fit for my purpose. Also tried a differnt make, and with all three cameras side by side, this one never caught a thing, whereas the other two worked flawlesly. The other two have 850nm illumination, so maybe that has an affect. Ether way this one is being returned.
