SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Unfortunately Kyle Mills has taken the work of a great author ,Vince Flynn and turned it into a third rate mystery book. I have read all of Vince Flynn's books and this is a tragic attempt to cash in on a first rate author by a third rate author. He has turned Mitch Rapp, the hero of all Vince Flynn's books into a psychopathic murderer. I lost track of how many people Mitch Rapp killed in the first hundred pages. The author has no insight into the Flynn characters. Irene Kennedy ,director of the CIA has been turned into a whimpering character unable to make a decision. Those of you who have read Flynn"s books know this is a travesty. To add insult to injury, the book has a price of 14.88 which is high for a kindle book. I waited a long time for a sequel but this was a complete letdown. Save your money.

Mitch Rapp is like a modern day Chuck Norris!
**I paid full price for this book.** With that being said...Best series I have read. If you enjoy political thrillers, this series is the mother of them all. I have read or listened to every book in the series and the only down side is that it is going to be hard to find another series as good. Trust me I have tried. Even with Kyle Mills at the helm, the story is still compelling and keeps the pages turning like a guy his first time on Tinder. I have already pre-ordered the next book in the series!I hope to provide my own input on products in order to help others as well. The contents of my review are 100% my own opinions and experiences with the product. I only give ratings that I think the product deserves. Mitch Rapp is no longer a man, but a god
The book was as full of international action and political intrigue as all the others. However, I did find that the character and plot development was not quite as deep, and therefore realistic, as the Vince Flynn novels, but then he was genius. What I did find disappointing, though, was the way Mitch Rapp has developed into some kind of god with even the CIA director kissing his feet. They way they let Stan Hurley on that one mission was also totally unbelievable. These characters have clearly gotten too big, turning the suspense fiction into borderline fantasy.Nonetheless, the story is well written, gripping, and, I think, well-deserving of the 4 stars I've given it.I Here is my detailed review:Hero: 4 starsHeroine (Dr. Kennedy?): 4 starsPlot: 4 starsWriting style: 5 starsHumor: 1 starAction: 5 starsSuspense: 5 starsRomance: 0 starsSensuality: 0 starsEnding: HEA; some loose ends, but no cliffhanger.Would I read another book by this author? Probably.

Mitch Rapp back from the dead and the guy at the helm does a killer job
A co-worker at the Fresno Bee, back when it was viable, handed me a stack of books and told me they had been passed along to him. "A guilty pleasure," he said. "Read them in sequence." Those were the first four by the late Vince Flynn. The first one didn't rattle me too much but I read it in a couple sittings. But the next three took my imagination hostage. By then I had to read anything the guy wrote. He didn't have the greatest grammar and sometimes the phrasing made me do a double take. But I didn't care. The pacing was intense. The action was amazing, almost like an intense workout. Sweat would bead metaphorically on my forehead. So when I saw it advertised I thought "The Survivor" must have been a missing manuscript, possibly finished by an editor or close confidant. But it's this guy Kyle Mills, a guy I've never heard of. But if he's been given the keys to the Mitch Rapp kingdom, Mills must have some sort of credentials. And as I read, getting somewhat bored by the narrative's catch-up with the story line left hanging in the previous book, I began to appreciate Mills' writing. He's more polished than Flynn. Maybe he doesn't have the same raw talent for describing the anger and frustration felt by the protagonist, but he has his own way of drawing the reader into the story. Mills is a different guy, but he's got serious talent. And I believe he's actually found a way to make Rapp mature, to become more than just the weapon his superiors point at a problem and hope it disappears. By the time I hit about 20 percent into the book (I read on my Kindle devices almost exclusively for new stuff now) I was hooked. I didn't care who wrote it. I was into finding out how Rapp and CIA chief Irene Kennedy would get out from under the Rickman problem. And now I want to read more of Mills' books.

A CIA agent's plot to wreck the agency continues after his death
This was a bit confusing to start but clarified as the plot developed.A high-ranking CIA turncoat takes revenge on the agency from beyond the grave. A series of secrets is steadily disclosed online doing enormous damage to the agency, its allies and the nation. Director Irene Kennedy turns, as usual, to Mitch Rapp to somehow get to the bottom of it.He must work with the French assassin, one who killed Rapp’s own family, to get to a key contact in the plot. Can he trust him?Meanwhile, the head of Pakistan’s intelligence service has his own plot going - a coup attempt against the president. He has a lead on the dead CIA agent’s scheme, and if he can acquire the information trove he can gain enormous leverage over the U.S., particularly if his ally, a powerful and unprincipled senator, himself wins the American presidency. He, too, quietly but ruthlessly pursues his own goals around the world.Rapp’s mentor and rival Stan Hurley, aging and sick, insists on going on the mission. Is he up to it? Can anyone tell him no? Rapp’s relationship with him has always been uneasy, but beyond that Rapp sees a premonition of his own aging. Will he end up sick and alone like Hurley? There’s lots of great action here as Rapp races against the clock to Italy, Switzerland, Siberia and Pakistan to stop two fiendish plots. He’s up against savage enemies who only have one problem: they’re up against him.

The outcome is really a very good story that takes you in page by page
I have no idea how much Vince Flynn had written of The Survivor before he sadly passed away and at which point Kyle Mills took over to complete the book. The outcome is really a very good story that takes you in page by page. The more you read and the more you want to read to see what will happen next. Mitch Rapp will Always be Mitch Rapp but the people around him in the story, even if some old hands at the game, become fresh each time they appear. I have read all the books by Vince Flynn and was never disappointed. Now Kyle Mills has taken over the thread and he has done a very good job with it. I hope he will continue to write as he did in The Survivor. Perhaps Vince Flynn is looking down and smiles and will continue to do so in the future.

If you love Rapp....
And I do, he's my favourite fictional hero, so I have to enjoy this.It was okay, this wasn't Flynn and I could tell because this seemed ...less intelligent, more typical of all the other books of the genre.I still enjoyed it, because it's Mitch Rapp but I know the writer is different so I'm not loving it like I normally would....read all the original books first and you'll get what I mean. It's good but it's not great!

After Vince Flynn passed away, I admit I was extremely apprehensive when it was announced someone else would be taking over writing the Mitch Rapp series - my favourite character and storyline. You can tell that it isn't Flynn doing the story telling anymore, the wording is different to what he'd use and as mentioned by other people, this Mitch Rapp is a lot different to Flynn's version - I'm not sure yet whether that's a good or bad thing. One thing you can tell the difference in, is the level of research shown by the two writers. Early on in the Rapp series, Vince Flynn had part of a book set in London and everything was well researched I thought. When Kyle Mills came to place Rapp in London, there was a ton of glaring errors, such as a "hundred pound note" that doesn't even exist or the cabbie using American slang. Even the description of the British spy wearing a bowler hat, expensive shoes and a suit coat seems wildly out of place and shows that the author has drawn on what Britain was like fifty years ago.Overall though, a good read but I still miss Vince Flynn!

Excellent adventure with Mitch Rapp
As a huge fan of Vince Flynn, I was worried about whether Kyle Mills would do justice to Mitch Rapp. My concerns were unfounded. This was a fast paced, exciting thriller. It had an intelligent plot, and interesting characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to fans of Vince Flynn as well as to anyone who enjoys a good story, which is well written.

Disappointed.
I loved the other Mitch Rapp books, so after much anticipation decided to at least give this a go. I read 10% of the book and got fed up of continual information dumps dispersed between a few lines of dialogue. As much as I wanted to enjoy this book I couldn't get into it. I also thought there was not enough information leading into the story. I spent far too long trying to remember the characters. If you read the previous boom a day before, I am sure you will be ok. I read a book or two a week so like most people, won't remember characters instantly on a new book. This didn't help me when trying to get around the information dump supposed to to pass as a story line.
