Highly Recommended Dock.
Isn't it nice when a product just - works? That's exactly what the StarTech USB-C dock does. Works right out of the box. No driver downloads, no "ohhhh - your Windows 11 machine was built on a Wednesday, sorry you need the more expensive model." It just works. A couple of key advantages of this dock: 1. The cable that connects to the laptop is an ordinary USB-C charging cable that can be unplugged. My last dock had a permanently attached cable and when the cable started to go I had to replace the entire dock. 2. Plenty of USB-A and USB-C ports. It frustrates me to no end when, in 2026, a dock has only 1 USB-C port. Not exactly new technology anymore. 3. It is very light. This could also be a disadvantage because it does move around, but that is easily solved with a Command Velcro strip. One thing to keep in mind: It has one HDMI and two Display Port connections. If you have two monitors that use HDMI connections you need an HDMI-DisplayPort cable. The Amazon Basics cable is a fine choice, in my experience. Definitely recommend this dock.

Works perfectly with extending Macbook Pro display
Simple to set up and works perfectly with my 2020 mac, extending my display to an external monitor. The dev site says it doesn't support macos.....but my mac detected the dock accessory and connected immediately. Perfect functionality so don't know what that's all about.

Very satisfied so far.

Do not buy
Absolute junk. Do not buy. Not compatible with my Lenovo despite listing as compatible. Cheap materials. USB port does not easily take a USB fob for a keyboard (almost broke mine)

Pricey but worth it
This dock is pricey but it works well. I am running a dual monitor setup and it is handling it great. I got this so I could run dual 27” monitors at high resolution and one monitor at 120 Hz. I am at high resolution but think I can only do one monitor at 120 Hz. I haven’t tried that yet.

Great docking station while providing power to laptops
This has been a good docking station so far. I love that it provides power to the laptops, and our end users like it so far!

Intermittent USB and ethernet issues.
Update (after three months): USB-A ports fail intermittently. Ethernet issues too. This is a piece of garbage which is strange for Startech; they're very obviously well organized and care about their business when you call support. Positive and frankly impressive warranty experience; they gave me one-on-one and detailed+knowledgeable help and troubleshooting, then I had no issues with the return/replacement once they decided it was defective. No refund offered. I'm not sure how this product ended up terrible but I'm optimistic that their newer generation might be better. Old review (after one week): There's very little to complain about with this dock. The build quality is good for the price - it's an all plastic design, which contributes to a very low weight, but this shouldn't be an issue during normal use. The port selection is very nearly perfect - the only thing I would have liked to see is a USB-A port on the front. It otherwise has all the ports I would expect a well-thought-out dock to have. It's designed with an incredibly bright blue power LED, but this can be blocked very easily with a small piece of electrical tape. Other than these two issues, I haven't had any other issues. I'm incredibly impressed with the functionality of this dock. It has an external power supply.

Nice Dock at the Right Price
It's a toss-up between 4 and 5 stars. If you are using it to dock a single laptop with three monitors, it's great! I have two of these in a demanding configuration. Two laptops drive two of these via USB-4. They feed into a KVM that drives one HDMI monitor and two DisplayPort monitors. Sometimes one of the DP monitors goes dark. Turning the Startech off and back on again fixes it. The problem COULD be the switch, but turning that off and back on again doesn't fix the issue. Unplugging an reinserting the USB-4 cable at the laptop also fixes the problem (that's what you'll be doing anyway with a single laptop configuration.)

Does not work with most devices, no video signal out!!
I tried this with my Asus Rog Ally to make it into a complete workstation All prephriel devices work... except for video (HDMI/DP) which is the whole point of owning something like this! With 2 DP and 1 HDMI I tried every troubleshooting tips provided by Startech.com... still did not work Clearing video cache, checking with different cables, using short cable...etc Curiously, it worked with one of my Windows Laptops.. which again defeats the purpose of having a "universal usb-c hub" I am angry because I've waited so long for this to arrive only to fail...

Almost perfect
This is one of the few USB C 3.2 gen 2 docks at the time of buying it that had all the features I wanted and wasn't thunderbolt only. It works very well and the quality feels good, all the cables are very thick and high quality and I doubt any of them will ever fail. The power supply is incredibly heavy for its size, makes the dock itself feel very light. Also at this price I was expecting the whole dock housing to be made of aluminum but turns out it's all just plastic. It's really no big deal, doesn't affect the functionality, but kinda surprised. The rubber feet on it however are really good at keeping it in place. For compatibility, I got this for my new laptop that has an AMD 5800H and it works flawlessly, because the usb c ports support DP 1.4 alt-mode. I tried it with my old laptop through a USB A to USB C adapter and it worked for everything except the display outputs. This means the dock adheres very well to the USB standards and no weirdness should be expected. There's a power button on the side of the dock that completely turns it on or off and that's kinda handy to not have to disconnect devices manually when trying to troubleshoot things. For the bad things, there's a light at the front of the dock that is incredibly bright. It's by far the brightest single LED on my desk and it's basically facing me directly so it's really distracting. I did try to put some kapton tape over it to dim it, which works, but it also makes it look very bad. The light stays on at all time even if the host computer is turned off or disconnected, so you have to turn off the dock manually with the button. This is annoying for me because my desk is in my bedroom, so it's another button to press every night when turning off the computer and monitors. The SD card slot has USB 3.x speeds, which is great. However the slot itself is a cheap one with no spring action. So you insert the card, there's no tactile or audible feedback that it's properly inserted, and to take it out you have to just pull it out while feeling it rub on the rough plastic housing. It's not a good feeling and I was really surprised to see this on such an expensive device. Edit: another weird thing I found is that the included USB C cable is not reversible. It only works in one orientation. This is not a big deal as usually I don't need to reconnect it many times but it's weird considering the whole point of USB C is to be reversible.

Did not work
Bought it because of great reviews and the fact it was specifically mentioned it works which chrome book. Did not work, contacted tech support to be told because I had a higher version of chrome it would not work. (See picture) Lost all the confidence in the product and the company. Do not recommend
