Your Family Tree Online: How to trace your ancestry from your own computer Paperback – July 23, 2009

THANKS FOR THE BOOK I LOVE IT. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

I should have looked closer. It's dated 2009.... it's TEN YEARS OLD! It gives guidance on tracing your ancestry online using your computer. Now think of all online developments of the last decade - none of them are here. I hoped it might have be an updated section, but it does't. It's not just a waste of money - in 2018 its useless.

I had high hopes for this book but was disappointed. it is a bit wordy and not very well organised. I made more progress by just exploring Google where I found ScotlandsPeople as the main site for Births, Marriages and Deaths of my recent ancestors. This gets only about half a line in the book. However, I may come back to it for alternatives when I get to the end of my current exploration. Jury still out on that

I am deep into tracing the ancestors, dad's side done back to the 1500's (thanks to a cousin I didn't know existed!) and now I'm doing mum's side. It is so addictive and I wish I had 48 hours in a day. This book is another very useful tool in the kit. I have quite a collection now and can always find what I want.

Christmas present for my father, who has become interested in tracing his family tree as he has gotten older.Not sure what the results are yet, but he is pleased with it.Note that this seems to be a cheaper alternative to the subscription websites for tracing your family which cost a fortune.

I found the book very helpful, a good starting point. Written in an easy read way that takes you through the process and provides useful information on other sites that will help you research your family tree.
