We're a creative bunch so these tools were a big hit and enabled everyone to try some new carving techniques this year. The results were awesome! One of the tools broke, but the rest made it through an afternoon of rigorous use in tact. Very clever repackaging pottery tools for pumpkin carving and the price was very reasonable. I've read some reviews about the tools breaking. They aren't meant to carve into the pumpkin. They work great with the stencils I have. The plastic tools you get at Halloween just don't get you enough of the detail or texture that these tools can give you for your design. I can really get into my more serious stencils. I've even thought about being able to use this for the summer. I love doing watermelon infused drinks and now I can stencils in some beautiful art for my centerpiece. So excited to start creating and carving.

A: The tools are meant for clay,  but will work on a real pumpkin. Some are less use on pumpkin than others. However the set in general is great.

**Q: could this be used on a wooden pumpkin or will it break?**
A: They're meant for carving soft clay not wood.  The tools will definitely break. These tools are great! There are 11 double sided tools so this is a great bang for your buck. I've read some reviews about the tools breaking. They aren't meant to carve into the pumpkin. They work great with the stencils I have. The plastic tools you get at Halloween just don't get you enough of the detail or texture that these tools can give you for your design. I can really get into my more serious stencils. I've even thought about being able to use this for the summer. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good kit for a first-timer

This was my first foray into carving a pumpkin more elaborately than in the old days with a butcher knife. I watched a lot of videos and tried to research tools that would be helpful. This kit has an abundance of tools. Not surprisingly I used a handful of them for almost everything, and some I never touched. But the ones I used helped me do some really nice carving (if I do say so myself!). I liked that it wasn’t super expensive, although the result is that the tools are fairly cheap. But more than that they weren’t remotely sharp (which I can understand since kids are likely to be using them). The x-acto type knife bent before it cut through the skin of the pumpkin. Carving with dull tools is very fatiguing. In the end I’m happy with this kit, it was what I needed for a small investment. If I carve something next year I may invest in just a few higher quality tools.
