No big difference compare to my old fan clutch
I purchased this fan clutch as I wanted some extra security knowing that my 20 year old truck with over a quarter million miles on it wouldn't have any age related issues with my functioning water pump and fan clutch. This fan clutch does feel lighter than my old one I removed, however, so far it has functioned without issue - but I did replace it in the winter and have not used it during the summer as of this reviews date. It should be noted that when replacing either the fan clutch or water pump, it's recommended for both to be replaced as a pair as ultimately if one failed, it probably did some damage to the other, also the warranty cards for both parts recommends the same. I also replaced the thermostat at the same time, as I would rather do that now, than have to in the middle of the summer. the threads are a right hand turn, using a pipe wrench to remove the old one didn't work so instead I used a kit from Auto Zone that had a 36mm fan clutch wrench which fit close enough to remove. Facing the engine you'll turn the wrench counter-clockwise (towards the passenger side of the vehicle). I found adding tension to the serpentine belt allowed for easier removal as normal belt tension just allowed for the water pump pulley to slip and did nothing to loosen the fan clutch. I used this part on a Ram 2500 with a v10 388 mopar engine, this engine was placed in models 2500-3500 from years 1992-2003.Update: it's been two years since I purchased this fan clutch, it works as expected with one caveat - it engages far more frequently than I perceived the old OEM one did. When I start the engine I can hear the roar of the fan engaged via the clutch, this occurs in the winter and summer. It quickly disengages as I drive the truck from a parked position. The clutch also engages sooner than the old one did as the engine heats up - it used to take the engine to reach past the middle of the guage (approximately 230-240) now it starts engaging about 210 and will disengage around 180. I'm not sure if I always had a bad fan clutch from the start or this clutch is designed different. Ultimately, living in Arizona I'm more than happy to hear the roar of my fan clutch kick in and cool the engine faster. Hope this helps.

Loud at first but gets quieter
I had the Hayden 2771 clutch previously on my 2002 Jeep Wrangler. The 2791 is louder on startup, but after about 30 seconds (depending on outside temp) it quiets down very quickly and after this it becomes quieter than the 2771, which is louder when not engaged. So it is more efficient at cooling when it's hot out and needed, but when it's not needed there is less noise

Perfect fit for 98' Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 V8.
Its a SEVERE DUTY fan clutch. It works flawlessly. You can visit the manufacturer website to see the specs for a Severe Duty fan clutch. If i recall correctly, when engaged it spins at 80% to 90% of engine speed, which means it NOISY. At 2000 RPMs the fan is louder than the engine and my (stock) exhaust.I knew it was going to be noisy, but I bought it anyway because of:A) My OEM fan clutch was dead and I needed a replacement ASAP.B) I couldn't find any other fan clutch available. Now, considering I live in the dryest desert on earth, its not such a bad deal at all. I gave it 4 stars only because of the noise, but I have no complaints at all with its performance. In fact, now i can use the AC at full "artic blizzard" mode while offroading in the desert and the engine temp stays below 200ยฐ F.

Solved the problem!
After diagnosing the overheating issue on my Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup to be a failed fan clutch, I called a few shops in the area and was quoted around $100 for the part and anywhere from $100 to $340 for labor, all saying the radiator and fan shroud had to be removed to access the fan clutch. I bought this clutch for a under $60 from Amazon and installed it in 15 minutes without removing either the radiator or the fan shroud. I just separated the fan from the clutch, then removed the clutch from the water pump pulley, slid the clutch out between the shroud and the engine, and installed the new clutch in the reverse order. The new clutch moves the fan at a high enough speed even at low engine temps that there is considerable fan-roar now that was not there before, but I'm hoping that will mellow out as the clutch breaks in. Whatever, it solved the low-driving-speed overheating problem immediately.Good product, good company, and thanks, Amazon!

The good thing is that my truck never overheated however
Fits perfectly if you're replacing your worn out & failed fan clutch. However, once installed, it stays locked up at all times making your truck sound loud with the fan always engaged. The only way I found to unlock the fan was to rev my engine at 4,000 RPM in second gear for the fan to unlock after driving for about 2 miles when the engine is cold. The good thing is that my truck never overheated however, it ran cool and on today's modern electronic fuel injection systems, it relies on the information from the coolant temp sensor. If your thermostat is set to open at 195 degrees F, the engine control module is designed to decrease the on time of the injectors, thus reducing fuel consumption. With the clutch always engaged, I confirmed with a scan tool, my truck running at 175 degrees, 20 degrees cooler than specified; the computer as a result will increase the injector on time thinking that the engine hasn't warmed up yet, so it needs more fuel. The locked up fan clutch led to decreased fuel economy, decreased performance and unwanted engine vibration at higher engine speeds (above 3,000 RPM). I would not recommend this particular fan clutch (didn't work very well with my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 4x4) unless you do a lot of towing and don't mind having the fan constantly engaged. Even when I had my A/C on while the engine was cold, the clutch would lock up and never disengage.
