We use a proper aerospace grade of Aluminum which is twice as strong as the utility grade material (6000 series) that others use. They are hollow to minimize weight, but the tab on top is beefy so you can get a good grip on it for maintenance. The plug is designed with a built-in hex hole, so you can use a common hex wrench to install or remove the plug.
