DT-1130 Product evaluation - Fair to Good.
For a low cost EMF meter ($21.93 shipped), the DT-1130 works well. It doesn't have 'values measured in', such as milligauss, but it does give a measurement. It doesn't measure 'very high' frequency Microwave Oven values well; but, I got a reading when angling the meter towards the microwave tube that produces (micro)waves that cook the product, when in contact with the the outside of the oven. I tried measuring the overhead fan, and got no reading, but I couldn't get close to the rotor (fan was turning). It measures AC in outlets and cords well, and most electric and electronic things have those. Someone stated it measure static electricity well, I haven't tested for that. My old EMF meter measured TV tubes well, and they produce static. I liked the DT-1130 size and shape, although very light, and it comes with its own battery, a common thing nowadays. I can't determine where the sensor is, so I cannot point it, I tried several ways with the AC. I commonly used the top, by the readout. I don't want to remove the back. You Tube has videos on this unit. I also googled it, there's a lot there, too. It's labeled "Electromagnetic Radiation Detector", but I think 'radiation' is interchangable with 'frequency' and use that. So, maybe it measures 'radiation' values I am looking for. My DT-1130 didn't come with a warranty card; but, it came from Shanghai, China, and can only guess they didn't want it returned. - DS

Appears To Work...No False Positives Yet.
So far, so good. No false positives....yet. Feels a bit cheesy like a Dollar Store item but for the price, if it detects EMT consistently over time it's worth it and I will update this review. Made in China. Most everything is made in China now.

Definitely works
Definitely works! If I hold it next to an outlet it will go off. It even goes off if static is around. I was using a plastic garbage bag around this device and it went off because of the static on the bag.

and much too narrow a span before it reaches its limit to be useful to me
This device was not what I expected. It has much too high a threshold before it reads more than zero, and much too narrow a span before it reaches its limit to be useful to me. Otherwise I expected performs just as it was designed to do, and the seller delivered on time.It also would be more useful to me if it had enough bandwidth to measure leakage from a microwave oven.

Five Stars
Quality item - I'm sitting back further from my LCD monitor, and replacing CFLs with LED lights.

I'm an idiot
Well if you didn't know that there is power in a power cord, this will help.

Good For finding hot spots
The reason I gave it only four (4) stars is it only gives you an indication when it alarms. This is just a personal thing and I would have given it four and a half stars if that option was available. The unit works as advertised. This is more of a survey meter as it only gives indication when the alarm sounds. This is a good meter for the home user as it shows hot spots in an area so steps could be taken to remove the offending device or by some means shield the area from the hot spot. I found that the device works better if a person is holding it. What does this mean? Example, if it is placed by a device or cord that gives off enough emf to register and set off the alarm, when you remove your hand from the device it stops alarming there is no reading if it just started beeping. If it is moved closer the the emf source it starts beeping again and continues even when your hand is removed. I ordered two (2) one for home and one to take with me when I travel.>>Jun 9,2015> Just an FYI update > I have been checking just about anything that is powered by electricity(batteries are electricity suppliers as well as house wall plugs, just a different kind.) I have found that the smart meter set off the alarm and have a fairly high reading 4-6 inches from them. Also power cords to lights and anything else connected to the ac wall plug, but only with in 2-3 inches. The CFL light bulbs that are being sold more and more register high about 6-8 inches from them. Even the LED bulbs register about 1 foot away from them! To counter this a screen of 1/2 'hardware cloth' or course screen wire that is grounded placed as a guard/cage over them provides a good shield and would help prevent breaking of the CFL bulbs that contain mercury. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL SOMETHING LIKE THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW ABOUT ELECTRICAL WIRING! GET AN ELECTRICIAN TO DO THIS.
