Good with a few third party modifications
I ordered this despite knowing that many reviewers had problems with the hinge, because it was just the right look for my space. I wasn't sure if my cat would take to it, but it is working out great. Her existing litter box fit well, so I apologize for its dingy appearance in the photos--it is many years old.I did attempt to install the hinge that comes with it, but I had problems. The wood was tough, and the heads snapped right off of 2 of the screws while trying to get it secured. I then had to file down the remaining screw so that it was not a sharp surface that my cat could hurt herself on. Instead of the default hinge, I ended up using an Apexstone Soft Close Lid Support (33lbs) which comes in a set of 2, but I only needed 1. I needed to purchase shorter screws for this hinge, however, as the default screws would have pierced through the sides. It works great, and that is really all that is needed to make this box exceptional.Another concern I had for this box is the height. I feel it should have been a couple of inches taller to give cats adequate vertical clearance, and I did observe that with the lid open, my cat is naturally about an inch taller than where the ceiling lies while she's handling her business. However, this does not seem to be an issue for her, and she has taken to the box very well, using it consistently. It has been about 3 weeks now.I already had a large PetFusion SmartGrip Cat Litter Mat under her box, so I cut down a piece of that and placed it in the entryway of the box. It is working well to keep the litter contained. As a final touch, I added URPOWER Battery Powered Motion Sensor LED lights, which work very well, but they are so bright I was worried they were going to irritate her when entering the box at night. I'm sure cats can see well enough without lights, so I wouldn't say I'd consider this a necessity, but it hasn't prevented her from using the box, so I have left them in place. It does look like a bench for humans to sit on, but it is not durable enough for that use, so I would not recommend placing it somewhere that someone might choose to take a seat, or place something on top to ensure it appears ornamental but is not too inconvenient to remove often for cleaning. My husband did sit on this once, though, and no harm came to it. I keep it right under the window, so my cat hangs out on top of this box often. You do have to keep it a few inches away from the wall to open the lid, or pull it away before cleaning. I put a few adhesive rubber bumpers on it just to protect my wall in the event of a mishap.

Add a scratching Pad and reduce litter tracking, and GREAT Dog guard.
MY first ranking would have been a 1.Was horrible to put together due to wrong screws, mismatched holes, etc. But, with a little patience and the desire to make it work-- I LOVE IT!We dug out our own hardware to replace the wrong items sent and redid some of the settings. We needed this box due to our Lab thinking cats pooped yummy treats--and there is now NO way the dog's head can now get near the litter. We were also having a HUGE problem with litter tracking everywhere. This box solved BOTH our problems. Here are a few minor changes we did.The top and how it angles open makes it impossible to sit against a wall. We did NOT attach the top. Yes, it does mean you have to remove to clean but it works well for us to just rest it on top. We did not want to have to pull it away from the wall each time. Easier to pop off the top and clean. In the entry area (first section the cats into and last to walk out) we added a cheap 9x 18 cardboard scratching pad. Now our Muddles goes in, and upon leaving uses the scratching pad. THUS ALL Litter stays IN THE BOX... falls through the scratching pad for ease of cleaning at a later date. We have ZERO litter being tracked out of the box. This is the reason for my 4 stars. We tossed a blanket on top and she loves to lounge on it also. So, if you are handy and able to bypass the bad instructions and can figure out basic building a box on your own, I'd say it's a great litter box. If you need to have it against a wall...the top hinge does NOT allow for that to happen. Needs to be a few inches away unless you do not attach the top.Our cat loves it! The dog is upset that her treat supply has been taken away! :)If you get it, make sure you have a beer, glass of wine, or favorite stress relieving food handy. But once it's built -- Enjoy!

Overall, a good sturdy solution
As anyone who has tried to find a litter-hiding enclosure knows, it's hard to coordinate the "furniture" with the litter system. Most are pretty small inside, and a lot of the pricier, self-cleaning systems are large. If you opt for self-cleaning, you pretty much have to accept that you'll be leaving it in view. I needed a solution for a hallway outside my kitchen, and didn't want an obvious litter box, even one of the enclosed high-tech ones.I measured like crazy, and finally opted for the Lift N Sift litter box, which fits in this enclosure. (I'm not using the internal divider, since it seems awfully small for my poor kitty to maneuver, but the LnS DOES fit even if you install the divider.) I still have to manually sift the litter and dump it, but at least it's hidden when guests are over. The enclosure seems sturdy and the finish is smooth and neat. It went together like an other KD piece, with the hardware a tad less well engineered than IKEA. Took about an hour.A couple of things: The decorative rails on the top mean you can't push it against a wall, or if you do you have to pull it out to lift the top: the back rail needs about 2" to clear. It's heavy, so pulling it out isn't easy. I wanted to add casters, but the legs are skinny, and no standard caster works. I may try to find ones sold with sockets. I added glides which helped a bit. I may also remove the rails, and look for those little white buttons to fill the holes.Which leads me to design:This is a bit too cottage-y for me, especially they curvy rails. It looks like it belongs in a child's room. The company has the basic template and engineering established, so I suggest they come up with an alternate design more geared to contemporary style. There are enclosures like this on the market, but they didn't fit anything but a small basic litter box. And a simple change to the legs (use a chunkier, square leg) would not only look less twee, but it would allow the addition of casters.

Nice box but expensive for what it is.
Unfortunately there are not many cat litter furniture options in the Uk and I needed a quick solution for my small flat as the litter box we had was not very higienic. This box looks very nice in my lounge and is stylish. Only trouble was when we started assembling. One of the holes was too big for the screw so we will have to use wooden glue to stick the bit on the top of the box. The safety hinge to hold the top part was a nightmare to install. The screws that were given were too big for the holes so it got totally lose. If that wasn’t enough stress, trying to take out the screws was even worse. While twisting the screwdriver the screw lost the grip and i could no longer remove it from the wood. Had to use a hammer and use all my strenght to remove the screws. I gave up and left without it. Maybe something a bit easier would be better for amateurs like me. After all I do like the box, it’s exactly what I needed but regarding quality and the hassle I had to assemble it, I would’ve rather paid less.

Looks so much better than my old cat pod!
I manage to put together most of this by myself! It was pretty straightforward, it helped having clear instructions and correctly drilled holes. The end result looks great and my cats have started using it. So an all round thumbs/paws up!

Great Litter Box
I know this is a little on the expensive side, but it's really well made and blends in perfectly with the furniture. It provides ample privacy for my cat, helps to avoid litter being kicked all over the carpet, and is also easy to clean.
