Not for real life interviews
I am a quant and seen some (not all) questions asked at interviews over the years. However solutions really letting this book down. They are clearly derived by a person with an academic background who have no idea to how such problems should be approached by a person who is suitable for a quant position. The solutions are overcomplicated, some problems have beautiful simple intuitive solutions and yet here we are presented with pages of painful derivation instead. What for? If I were presented with such solutions at in interview, even if correct, I would not think that a candidate is suitable for the job.Quants need to be able to find the simplest possible solution to very complex problems, solutions which are elegant and intuitive. This is the key requirement of the job. Knowledge of mathematics, however deep, is not sufficient in such a case. And this book leads you down the wrong path. If you want to pass an exam at a good school this may be a good book. But it is not good prep book for an interview. If a problem does not have an elegant solution there is a very low chance it will be asked at an interview. If it is asked, believe me, your are better off in another company.Yet most of the concepts discussed in the question are relevant, so there is some useful material in here, therefore two stars. My advice, read the problem, try to find an elegant solution ( Google it if you need), move to the next problem.
