Not for people with big calves
These were definitely old school socks. However, if the person you are buying them for has big calves, they will not fit.

Sock height different from picture
In the picture it seems the socks go up to the calves, which is what I wanted. They actually go up to my knees. I'm only 5'1 so maybe on an average-height person the socks would fit as the picture shows.The socks are great quality though. Brings me back to the 80's.

I don't have the thickest calves in the world and these were simply narrow in the tube and too loose in the toe, but do the trick.

The "Excell Stripe Adult Tube Socks" come in a variety of colours. Great, perfect, comfortable socks. Love them! Retro/old school. Perfect for those of us stuck in the 80's.

These run a little small, but are ok for the money I guess.

Not great.
Definitely a "tube" sock. A sewn tube of fabric. Absolutely no shape to it. No heel or tapered toe. Straight stitch across the toes which is uncomfortable. Also not much stretch so it's hard to pull them up bigger legs. I just wear them around the house though so they work ok.
