Many man's steak knife
The best way I can describe this is as an over sized steak knife or maybe a thicker, non flexible boning knife. It is a little longer and the belly to spine distance is not as deep as most survival knives, but I really like it. I own several Condor knives ranging from little carving type knives to swords and this is one of my favorites in both design and grip comfort. This comes with a kydex sheath instead of the usual leather that the other Condor's have come with it. At first, I was a little bummed that it wasn't leather, but I understand why this was the design chosen. It is lighter and takes up less room than the leather and it also has the molle attachment since it is meant for tactical use. The knife easily clicks and locks into the sheath tightly even. It seemed too light of a snap in to me at first but the knife held tight when I tried to throw it out of the sheath.

Defiantly a steak knife
This knife is build solid, thick and sharp. Your tactical steak knife. Just what I would expect from Condor kitchen ware.

It's not bad but very thick.
I do like this knife it's got charm and historicity. However I think it's about an inch too long and has a very thick spine. The coating is needed as the metal will rust quickly. Also the sheath is cheap nylon I will be making a leather one.

There's a reason for the finish
Good knife, good sheath but if you don't like coatings you might want to pass. I stripped the coating from the blade (the scales are not removable) as I do with most such knives to see very heavy vertical scratches for about an inch forward from the scales. They're deeper on the left side but I've not been able to totally sand either side smooth yet. Funny thing is the 4 1/2 inches of blade from the scratches to the tip is a nice horizontal satin finish on both sides. Otherwise well executed though I did have to sharpen it ootb but then again I find I have to do that to just about every knife. Makes a good companion to the Atrox - which I haven't stripped for fear of finding the same situation.

Huge disappointment from condor
Condors a great company don't get me wrong.... I own several of their blades... To moonshiners a moon stalker A primitive Bush knife and a Dundee Bowie.....all of them were flawless as far as I was concerned..... This is the first one that was a no-go. I can overlook a lot of things the set of the sheath needed adjustment because there was no retention. That's easily done with a heat gun. The blade itself was straight and true and the handle was very comfortable, however. I cannot abide a dull knife. This knife was sent to me brand new in the box and it could not even shave a piece of paper. Every other Condor blade that I own not only arrived to me shaving sure but even after use has remained as such even after what would be considered abuse of other knives. I've sent it back for an exchange hopefully the next one will prove better now I have to wait a few days to find out....... Update August 14th I've received my replacement and it's just as dull I don't know what could have happened here I've heard of other issues with quality control as far as the fit and finish of the scales on the Tang but I've never heard of their edges being poor. I would absolutely not recommend you purchase this from Amazon as I am led to believe all of them will have the same issue
