At Least I Can Lay Down and Use My Phone or Computer in this Thing
Update: Whatever I did the first time, I must not have used it right because the second time, it was definitely hot within 10 minutes. I didn't even put my head in the tent and my head and face were sweating. Based on this, I have updated my rating.I also tried transporting it. The tent + heater packs into the carrying bag easily. I was able to put all the items in the bag and zip it closed. Carrying it wasn't too difficult. Messing with all the cords isn't as easy as it could be, since they're all connected to the heater and sauna blanket and you can't detach them. Anyway, it is genuinely portable.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I just used this for the first time and I plan to use it more. I will update this review after I've used it a few more times.Shipping time was 7 days.Pros: You can lie down! That's the biggest reason I bought it when there were no reviews. I wanted a portable sauna that would let me lie down, because I previously had one of those zip-closed sauna boxes and at 5'9", sitting down and zipping myself into one was uncomfortable...and made me wonder what kind of trouble I'd be in if the thing ever caught fire. In this sauna, I was able to lie down and could easily poke my head and hands out to use my laptop. Oh, and if you're claustrophobic, you'll be happy to know you can easily throw the tent off of you and jump up anytime you want.I did want to spend some time with my head inside the sauna and I was able to do that- just barely, and I had to bend my neck to fit all the way in it.I have not tried to transport it anywhere, but for the tent part, it is pretty easy to gather up and secure with its Velcro straps. It did (eventually) get hot enough to make me sweat. It just took 33 minutes to do it.The back part of the tent has a flap that goes under the stand where the heater is. I'm not sure if this is just to keep hot air in or if it is to protect the floor from the heat, but it seems like a good idea.Cons: The control panel only lets you increase the heater time up to 30 minutes. And like I said, it's going to take almost all of that time before you start sweating. The sauna blanket part of the control panel has about 4 or 5 settings and the highest is 46 degrees. It's in Celsius, which for me is not the most convenient. The sauna blanket heats unevenly. Some parts are much, much hotter than others. Also, the sauna blanket is not big enough to cover the whole body. If you are wanting this for the infrared, keep this in mind. The pop-up dome part does not secure to the bottom part (the insulated mat). I'm sure a lot of hot air escapes that way.I have not yet inflated the pillow, but the prospect certainly doesn't look appealing. It's a cheap plastic pillow with a hand pump.It does have a bit of a chemical smell, from the tent part I think. I suppose I expected that. If you are highly sensitive to chemicals, it will probably bother you. If you are moderately chemical sensitive you can probably deal with it.The control panel being green on green isn't exactly the most brilliant design ever. It is hard to see. And in the product photos here on Amazon, the control panel looks different.Overall, it's okay. If it were $100-$150, I would feel better about my purchase but it wasn't. It was $400 and when you're thinking about buying this you might also be wondering if you should spring for a real sauna. I am still wondering that myself. In the end the two things that made me decide to keep it are (1) I can lay down and (2) I can use my phone or laptop easily while I am in it, so I feel like I can deal with the 30 minute warm-up time. When I was trying to decide whether to buy this, the product photos weren't really very helpful, so I am attaching some pics.I will update this review if anything changes.
