it was clear that the ricer is of good quality. It looks good
I bought this at the last minute when I decided to make homemade gnocchi for New Year's Eve, and the recipe called for ricing the potatoes. I wasn't sure, given the very reasonable price, what the quality would be, but right out of the box, it was clear that the ricer is of good quality. It looks good, it's sturdy, and it works well; I used the smallest plate to rice the potatoes for my gnocchi, and they came out a perfect consistency! It does require a little upper arm strength to use (at least with a half of a very large russet potato), but the mechanism was smooth, and I didn't have any problems with anything sticking or with the plate staying in place. And, as I'm trying to start a collection of copper-plated items for my kitchen, I'm pleased with how good it looks. As with anything that has a copper finish, be sure to dry it off with a soft cloth immediately after washing to avoid spots/oxidation. I am very happy with this purchase!

I am very disappointed. Would not recommend this product
Sadly, after just the second use, the arm bent on this. I used fully cooked, peeled potatoes with the plate with the largest holes. I am very disappointed. Would not recommend this product. Money wasted.

Looks nice, function is meh
It looks great and functions but with every push the disc sticks to the masher and I have to use a knife just to get it separated and use it for the remaining potatoes,

Good build quality but perhaps room for improvement
The product seems to be of good quality. However, I do think there is room for design improvement by finding a way to have the plates attach more firmly to the moving piston. When making mashed potatoes the plate would come loose and I would have to re-attach it. Perhaps there is a way to have each of the plates screw into the piston and be more secure. Nonetheless, the mashed potatoes came out better than ever

and this becomes worse as the amount of dough placed in the masher ...
I used this product about three times to make spaetzle. The holes on the plates are too close to one another for that purpose, and the "extruded" spaetzle strands tend to fuse together if the dough is not made firm enough. Also the "piston" that pushes the dough through the plates starts pushing at an angle that is not perpendicular to the plate, and this becomes worse as the amount of dough placed in the masher increases. This becomes apparent once it is filled above half, and dough tends to ooze through the sides of the piston.Today I had a very bad experience that could have ended in disaster. I decided to rest the masher on top of the pan in which I intended to boil the spaetzle, using the grooves the unit has for that purpose. As soon as I applied some pressure to the handles, the grooved portion that extends from the body broke apart, causing the whole unit to plunge into the boiling water. I got some burns on my chest.Examining the part that broke off, I see that it was spot welded to the main body, two spots no more than 1/16 of an inch in diameter each. That seems like a bad engineering flaw, given the amount of leverage that can be applied to the handles. Please see the attached photo.I will not use this masher again. It was, in my case, a total waste of money.

Works like a charm.
My last ricer caved - literally. Apparently I don't know my own strength. But once you make mashed potatoes using a ricer nothing else will do. This one has a smaller capacity than my last nine but feels SO sturdy! (And it's pretty). The disc does stick slightly as you feed in the potatoes but it takes a nanosecond to break the suction seal that lifts it up - didn't bother me.

One Star
Looks nice, but ends there. Copper "plating" was peeling off fresh out of the package.

Came with scratches :(
The OCD person inside me is so sad right now. I was so excited to open this but seeing those scratches just took that feeling away. I think if it was me who made it scratch I wouldn't be so sad but to get it brand new like this definitely dissappointed me. I will try this tomorrow and update my review.
