Its low 3.3V power consumption extends laptop battery life, while hot-swappable, dongle-free design ensures hassle-free, reliable connectivity compatible with legacy systems. ## Description From the Manufacturer NETGEAR's 10/100 dual-speed CardBus Ethernet PC Card is a 32-bit, high-performance adapter that allows any CardBus-equipped computer to connect to an Ethernet or Fast Ethernet network. Model FA511 supports hot-swapping, allowing you to insert and remove it as necessary, without having to turn off or reset your PC. With a compact, dongle-free design, Plug-and-Play simplicity, and PCI-like performance, the Model FA511 unleashes the power of today's notebook PCs, allowing you to keep pace with demanding applications and advanced desktop technologies. CardBus is a 32-bit bus-mastering architecture that operates at PCI local-bus speeds of up to 33 MHz, yielding a peak bandwidth of 132 MB/sec. Unlike 16-bit PC Cards, which operate at slower ISA bus speeds of 8 MHz using an ISA-like asynchronous protocol, CardBus provides a fast 32-bit multiplexed address/data path that allows full access to Fast Ethernet's bandwidth. By utilizing internal bus speeds, CardBus can operate at speeds six times faster than a 16- bit PC Card and five times faster than a 100 Mbps PC Card. In addition, CardBus PC cards operate at 3.3 Volts, saving power and conserving your PC's battery life. Model FA511 features leading-edge bus-mastering capabilities to optimize throughput while maintaining low CPU utilization. Bus mastering allows the FA511 to assume control of your PC's system bus, accelerating data transfers. 16-bit PC Cards, by comparison, act as a bus slave and pass data through the CPU before sending it to the host system. This slows data transfers and strain your PC's processor. The Model FA511 consumes a low 3.3 Volts of power. Low power consumption prolongs your PC's battery life, which allows you to run your PC longer without needing to recharge it or use a power supply. Designed specifically to harness the power of the latest networking technology with 32-bit ,10/100 performance. Review: Hard-to-find and just what I needed. - Man, these things are getting harder to find every year. If you own a Panasonic tough book that you bought several years ago And want to keep using it then you will end up buying this product eventually. It replaces the cat five connection usually located on the right of the laptop. I say it works better than the original CAT5 connection that came with the laptop. All in all, a good buy. Review: Works great! - No problems with this card. Good product! Thanks guys! ## Features - Sizzling 32-bit, bus-mastering performance - Very low power consumption - Auto-detects optimum network speeds up to 200 Mbps - Compatible with legacy operating systems - No dongle to lose or break ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00005NWV1 | | Best Sellers Rank | #336 in Laptop Network Adapters | | Brand | NETGEAR | | Compatible Devices | Desktop | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 19 Reviews | | Data Link Protocol | Ethernet , Fast Ethernet | | Data Transfer Rate | 100 megabits_per_second | | Global Trade Identification Number | 10606449021780 | | Hardware Interface | Ethernet, PCI | | Item Part Number | EPPDFXAD3 | | Manufacturer | Netgear | | Mfr Part Number | FA511 | | Model Number | FA511 | | UPC | 010343837096 606449021783 606449010428 840356610832 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** NETGEAR - **Compatible Devices:** Desktop - **Data Link Protocol:** Ethernet, Fast Ethernet - **Data Transfer Rate:** 100 Megabits Per Second - **Global Trade Identification Number:** 10606449021780 - **Hardware Interface:** Ethernet, PCI - **Manufacturer:** Netgear - **UPC:** 010343837096 606449021783 606449010428 840356610832 ## Images ![NETGEAR FA511 32-bit CardBus PC Card Mobile (10/100) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81VILdPd45L.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hard-to-find and just what I needed. *by J***S on July 31, 2013* Man, these things are getting harder to find every year. If you own a Panasonic tough book that you bought several years ago And want to keep using it then you will end up buying this product eventually. It replaces the cat five connection usually located on the right of the laptop. I say it works better than the original CAT5 connection that came with the laptop. All in all, a good buy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great! *by G***K on August 6, 2018* No problems with this card. Good product! Thanks guys! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple to use cross platform network card *by U***R on July 27, 2006* The internal network interface of my laptop was damaged. Versus fixing it, I ordered this card. Getting it to work under XP SP2 was effortless. You plug in the card and boot up. XP detected the card and fired it up. Once configured, it asked me to reboot. After the boot, the card fired up and showed up like any other NIC. I was able to re-name it to NETGEAR... Performance has been very good too. I also like the fact that it doesn't have a dongle. I hate those things. Highly recommended for those who need a 10/100 low power NIC. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.be/products/32104754-netgear-fa511-32-bit-cardbus-pc-card-mobile-10-100](https://www.desertcart.be/products/32104754-netgear-fa511-32-bit-cardbus-pc-card-mobile-10-100) --- *Product available on Desertcart Belgium* *Store origin: BE* *Last updated: 2026-10-02*
