**Q: how many volts do i have to put in it?**
A: Well, the rating of the speaker is 4 ohms and 3 watts.  You are limited by the
power spec of 3 Watts.  To calculate the max voltage use this equation:
P = V x V/R.  Solving for V, one gets V = sqrt(P * R).  So, for these speakers
you get V = sqrt(3 watts * 4 ohms) = sqrt(12) = 3.46 volts.  The thing to
remember is that the 4 ohm "resistance" should be considered as an
impedance value.  That is it will most likely be a some combination of the
DC resistance of the voice coil and the AC reactance of the voice coil
measured at 1000 Hz, which is sort of a standard.  The thing you want to
consider is that at lower frequencies, the AC reactance will decrease and
for a given voltage, the current will increase and thus the power rating can
end up being exceeded.  At higher frequencies the AC reactance will increase
and for a given voltage, current will decrease and power will go down.
Generally, the power rating for a speaker is determined by how hot the voice
coil can be allowed to get before it fails.

I have used these with a small 5 volt stereo Class D amplifier rated at 3 watts
per channel.   With a reasonable enclosure they sound pretty good and can provide plenty of volume considering their size.

**Q: Is  one of the dimension really 4.5 inches**
A: No, the speakers are 2" x 2". The "4.5 x 1.1 x 2.5 inches" in the product description is for the package containing two speakers.

**Q: If I use this to replace 4 ohm computer speakers driven by 8w amp and keep volume well below max will I do damage?**
A: Probably no damage unless you hit them with more than 4 watts of power.

A: No. I never tested them, but they don't look like other waterproof speakers I have seen.
