It contains a most diverse set of useful subsystems, and in this form represents the future of automobile user interactivity. Use of the open source based Android software platform for this system is both logical and practical. This review is about my experience in receiving, testing installation and operation of this system. I am an Amazon customer who at the time of this review has no affiliation or relationship other than that of a commercial customer with any of the organizations detailed in this review. What is in a name? One of the most annoying parts of this system, and by extension, this review apparently has to do with the modesty of the Oriental manufacturers of consumer electronics equipment. Despite my diligence I have not been able to specifically identify the make, model, and manufacturer of the equipment delivered to me by Amazon. Thus, for the purposes of this review, the unit we are reviewing shall henceforth be known as a “Keweier Electronics Model S07” or S07. This lack of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specificity is a serious weakness, as there appears to be no Point Of Contact (POC) for ongoing development, service and support of this system, and is a fatal weakness at this time.HARDWAREThe hardware configuration of this system is delightfully modular. This modularity may be due to the cooperative nature of the product development process, as this unit appears to be the result of a cooperative research development and manufacturing process taking place in China, and is comprised of a main board housed in a double DIN (Deutsches Institut Normung) ISO 7736 (International Standards Organization) chassis. Inside, the main board is attached to the flat screen display via two ribbon cables. Despite any comments you may receive from the manufactures of the various console adaptors such as Metra or Scosche, the S07 conforms completely with this standard and with a measured dimension of 7" X 4" is in no way “oversize”. Sadly the console adapter kits available will require considerable modification in order to accommodate the S07. I went through three of these console adaptor kits in an attempt to get a suitable installation in my 2009 Nissan Xterra. Finally I went to a hobby store and purchased very thin balsa wood, which I stained walnut and fashioned into a frame to hold the S07, jettisoning any of the trim included in the kit. Until there is some communication and accommodation between the S07 manufacturer and the makers of these console adaptor kits, this will remain a considerable hardware craft challenge for system installation.System InstallationThe manual states “professional is required to install this product.” That said, the economics of the car radio business has eliminated all but the largest us domestic installers, who charge considerably for their services. I opted to do this installation myself, as after nearly 40 years of technical contracting and consulting, this did not appear to be such an onerous task. Aside from the trim kit non-standardization and the subsequent software issues, installation of the S07 was fairly straightforward.ElectricalOnce you get beyond the integration of the S07 with the vehicle specific trim kit, the electrical interface is straight forward, as shown in the table below:ADAPTER CABLEDescription Chk Pin Color Tested Color DescriptionIgnition Switch 17 Red Red +12 Volt Accessory (There are 2 of these wires)Power Plus 12 14 Yellow Yellow +12 Volt ConstantPower Minus12 / Ground 15 Black Black Chassis Ground (for Subaru only)Illumination Wire 16 Orange Orange IlluminationRear Right Speaker + Pu Violet Right Rear Speaker +Rear Right Speaker - Pu/Bk Violet/Black Right Rear Speaker -Front Right Speaker + Gy Gray Right Front Speaker +Front Right Speaker - Gy/Bk Gray/Black Right Front Speaker +Front Left Speaker - Wt/Bk White Left Front Speaker +Front Left Speaker + Wt White/Black Left Front Speaker -Rear Left Speaker - Gn/Bk Green Left Rear Speaker +Rear Left Speaker + Gn Green/Black Left Rear Speaker - Pink Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) (for Subaru only) Green Steering Wheel Switch 1 (May be different for Nissan) Blue Steering Wheel Switch 2 (May be different for Nissan)Table 1 Notional System Interconnect TableWhy a worksheet such as this cannot be included in the “instructions.pdf” is beyond me.Tips§ I recommend the use of “eurostrip:” terminal block in a Nissan Xterra, as you shall have plenty of space above the S07 to store these.§ When installing the backup camera, use the red wire in the coax line to send a signal from the backup lights on your vehicle both to the camera power supply pin as well as back to the S07 to allow for switching to the back up view. This is much simpler than trying to get the signal from somewhere in the front of the car.SOFTWAREThis, along with the associated support and identity, is this system’s greatest weakness. In correspondence with the manufacturers representative, it was made clear to me that any software development on the S07 was not allowed. This extends to the ability to turn on Android Debugging Bridge (ADB), gain S07 system root, or even install particular types of application software. This coupled with the singular lack of support shown by the indistinct, unspecified OEM is why I must warn you away from the purchase of the S07. While made of Open Source components, the manufacturer appears to be completely against the spirit of the Free Open Source movement. No consumer or developer can nor should sustain interest in a product that they cannot develop.SUPPORTAs detailed above, merely determining the Make, Model and Manufacturer of the S07 is a non-trivial task. I would recommend contacting the following representative as the best place you can start:§ [email protected]§ [email protected] you correspondence do not expect to receive responses to someone with a native comprehension of English. Is the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Keweier or Joying? Is it a combination or collaboration? Scrutiny of various pictures of both of these manufacturers find similarity between various Android based units, but nowhere is it explicitly spelled out.DOCUMENTATIONOnce the system is operational, you will find in the system RAM a document called “Instructions.pdf”. This 23 page document begins a series of English sentence structure, spelling and grammar mistakes by misspelling “Androud” in the first four words of the document and moves on from there. While the existence of this document is worth knowing about, the document itself contains no information about the make model number, specifications or characteristics of the S07. This manual does contain a reasonable system diagram overview on page 22. The manual has no version number and contains a table of contents but no index. As a technical writer I found the manual unacceptable. A proper approach to this type of writing would address, at a minimum, the following broad topics:§ General§ Installation§ Operation§ Development§ Problem SolvingThe manual may cover these topics but only in the most shallow of manners. This sole document appears to be the only technical documentation available for the S07.RECOMMENDATIONSThe technical excellence of the design and implementation of the S07 is offset by the weaknesses in software, support and documentation. Thankfully these can be solved in the aftermarket. The following recommendations are something that the manufacturer should immediately consider.1. Open the Android Development Bridge2. Support Root access3. Hire a native English speaking technical writer4. Set up and advertise system support via email5. Coordinate the “oversize” issue with trim kit manufacturers.SUMMARYI will tolerate this unit in my car at this time, but I am actively seeking a unit that will allow me the kind of software freedom that meets my needs. Thankfully I feel installation of a replacement unit in due time will not be that be a financial hardship.

Ok unit, but dishonest description.
Unit doesn't come with any DVD drive for anyone who is misled by the title. I believe this was done intentionally by a non-native english speaker to help sales. Poor excuse in my eyes. As of today it still says DVD in the headline with an incoherent sentence in the description saying "without DVD player". I don't expect to get any support on any issues with the system. Sellers who have pulled this stuff on me before have been from China and consider the deal done once they have your money. Consider instead buying any of the other many units available without a dvd drive for a much better price. On first turn on the wifi and bluetooth worked great, however when I hit the "navi" button the unit went to adobe acrobat. I am not sure why this is but I will keep tinkering with it to make sure it isn't an error on my side. If not, I hope they will give me a refund or swap it out for a new unit. The videos posted by buyers are for older units. I couldn't say if the updates to the hardware/software were for better or for worse....Just for reference, the screws you need to mount the double-din dash kit to the unit/vehicle are short 10-32s sold most hardware stores. If you know any electricians ask them for four "ground screws" and they will know what you are asking for. Otherwise the electrical or hardware section of HD/Lowes is your friend. The backup cam was the hardest part of the install as I routed it through my rear tailgate following the same path as the license plate lamp harness and into my vehicles left body side opening up panels along the way. I ended up coming just shy of where I needed the cord to reach but was able to make a splice with materials I had laying around. I would consider this a little too difficult for someone who doesn't have any experience with this before because of both the tools and patience needed.

The WIFI works great all the NAV app work great
I received the Keweier stereo on yesterday and had it professionally installed. I have not had any problems with the operations of the unit. People in the reviews say that they do not give you a manual. THIS IS NOT TRUE. They do !! It is an app in the radio. They do not give you an installation manual, but how to use the stereo is in the app manual. The WIFI works great all the NAV app work great. You can also download any app from the play store, once you log onto google.

Nice but poor os
The choice to divide the memory up too fake having a sd card in internal nand sucks. Baring finding and alternate custom Rom the usable app space is 1gb despite 16gb nand and a 256gb microsd

Needs lots of work.
It only has basic functions, have to download apps. It constantly freezes, takes long boot up. Always losses Wi-Fi signal. I use Google play music and half the time it gets dropped, remote doesn't work and many other problems. When it is working its just ok . Disappointed.
