The One Year Classic Family Devotions (One Year Book of Family Devotions)

We've only recently started attending church with our young family, so we were searching for a devotional that would seem relevant to each member of our family (mom, dad, tween girls) without being too difficult to understand. I'm glad I didn't base my purchase solely on the fact that there was only one previous review of this devotional - I probably would have gone with something more widely reviewed and that would have caused us to miss out on this treasure!While my husband was raised in a churchgoing family, I was not. Until this year, we'd never attended church as a couple and our kids have only known church as a place where people get married or have funerals. We began attending recently, found a church that feels "right" for our family, and decided that a devotional would be a great way to expand the depth of our journey.This devotional has stories that I wish I'd heard as a child. My girls look forward to the stories each night and remind me to read it. Better yet, they're referencing the stories, debating the outcomes of the stories and related verses, and sharing so much about their lives with us as we talk about the problems the characters face in the nightly stories. I can't imagine what this new nightly ritual will do for my family. I treasure our time with this book.

As you can see from the pics, he adores this book. I got it to use as a family but he adopted it immediately as his own and has used it by himself for the most part although we’ve also read it together. For nearly a month, it was all he wanted to read and he would take it everywhere. It comes with “real life” examples of life lessons, some questions and a verse to memorize plus a verse to read. It’s definitely worth the money.

I do this with my kids, 9 and 12, everyday. They like the little activities that go along with the week. I would say if you want to spend a little time with your kiddos in God's word everyday this is a great book. I photo copy the work pages because I may do it again next year or pass it along to a friend if I find something else next year that I love.

I was looking for a daily devotional book that wouldn't be boring to my son and this one is perfect. Each day has a short story, some verses to look up, a couple discussion questions and a short bible verse to memorize. I love the stories because they are very relatable to everyday situations and they are simple enough for kids to understand so my son actually looks forward to our time with God every night. Any other time he HATES to read, but he always wants to read the bible verse at the end. Using this is a perfect way to end the day and is a great way to teach kids and adults of what God expects from us. Definitely a great buy for families :)

This a great way to read God's Word with your kids and also get real life stories for them to relate to. For the scriptures at the beginning of each devotion, we have our 8 year old look up the verses in her Bible and read them for us. We also love the questions at the end of each devotion because it prompts us to talk about different thing.

I love to do this with my 8 year old. She likes the stories and I like that there is a scripture to go along with each one. My husband does Bible stories with her for her quiet time when he puts her to bed and me and her do this as it allows for lots of discussion and has application questions.

It was well written, very Biblical and a great bedtime read before your children go to bed. It clears the cares of the day away and puts a spiritual focus in their heads before going to sleep. It is good at touching on topics that may be of concern to children. I would recommend it.

It is very suitable for family. My kids enjoy reading the stories and we all love it. It has great practical lessons for kids (of course for adults too).

Easy to read and understand. Kids have a great time locating the verses in the bible and reading the daily devotion and having family sharing time. It is part of our bedtime routine and the kids love it. So far each devotion has been applicable to something that has been happening in our daily lives.
