The filter keeps milk out of your Nurture III pump motor. In the course of normal pump use, the filter will gradually become clogged with milk particles and will eventually need to be replaced. It is not necessary to replace the filter until you notice diminished suction or you see dark spots of mold in it. Women who pump 3 or more times per day will probably need to change filters about once every 4 to 6 weeks.
