Q: what is the minimum and maximum height canvas this easel will accomodate?

I used it for display purposes with a 4'6" X 4'.00 poster on a lightweight Styrofoam backing. That didn't reach to the top of the easel and the other user is correct in saying you wouldn't want to use it as a proper painters easel, it's not designed for that. For display purposes it's first class. I haven't used it for a while but I would estimate that it would take a display item about 5'6' in height and 4'6" in width.

Q: What material is this made of?

Individual segments are made of metal held together by elastic bands. Top of tripod is plastic where the three legs are attached. Adjustable chart holders appear to be plastic. Made of very light weight material which appears flimsy but is very functional within the weight specifications.

Q: What are the dimensions at the base when the easel is expanded?

base must be 2 ft or 3 ft wide to stand

Q: I have an art portfolio book i use to store some of my art. Its about 11in x 18 in. Could the easel properly hold it and display it?

Not if it’s heavy. This won’t hold anything heavier than maybe a pound or two - I would guess.
