While natural stone is susceptible to certain acids, it is in general a very sturdy material and a highly versatile crafting medium. Natural stones are porous; however our products undergo a polishing process that leaves a permanent glossy layer reducing porosity and absorption of foreign elements. The following practices will help preserve an everlasting finish: Dusting with lint-free or microfiber fabrics will maintain the natural shine. Avoid use of abrasive powders, grains, brushes and steel wools that will scratch and score the surface. Prevent prolonged exposure to acidic liquids that will cause staining and diminish the glossy layer. For a high shine specialty polishing creams are available at many hardware stores.
