A handbook that needs 10 stars
It's a subtle book that I overlooked for a while then after reading a review from a blog decided, why to buy it. So, why aren't more people snapping up this book? It is a treasure to have! I cannot say enough about how awesome it is. It goes in depth about the yukata, its history, and leave no stone unturned-I can give more details, but you have to buy it. There are sections on accessories, types of obi ties, underclothes, how to sit and move around (i.e. hail a taxi and drink a beverage). Oh, there's also a section on men's yukata-although they don't need as much to get dressed than women-this is just glossed over details, there so much more wonderfulness inside that pages. It's a small book, but it is filled to the brim with useful information and instructions, and the yukata eye candy is drool worthy. I can go on and on raving about the book, which is a very good length, and wish I could give it ten stars.

Helpful guide
This is a lovely book detailing how to wear, care, and store yukata for both men and women. It's a nice, small book for beginners. Please keep in mind that the book does not go into detail for how to tie a drum knot with a Nagoya obi, nor does it go into detail about traditional color combinations.

Finally a yukata book in both English and in Japanese
As an American yukata enthusiast, I know of only one or two other Japanese books on yukata with a bit of English in them and they are both long out of print (and therefore expensive) and only discuss the steps to putting on a yukata properly. This little gem goes into coordination, types of obi, the other items you'll need to acquire to wear a yukata, selection tips, yukata etiquette, and even a brief section to help a man put on a yukata (this book is really intended for women)Now if only this publisher would put out bilingual books (in English & Japanese) on kimono (how to put them on, the different types of kimono, how to buy them, how to coordinate them, how to tie a variety of obi knots). The only reason this book doesn't get 5 stars is because it ought to have included a brief DVD showing how to put on a yukata and how to tie the most popular yukata obi knots in both English & Japanese. Then it would be an absolute must have perfect publication
