Glad I spent the extra $50 for this one.
This Whirlpool .5 cu. ft. mini-microwave is just what I needed. My office kitchen is tiny, so every foot of counter space is precious. This little microwave has replaced a huge 1100 watt one, and only in one respect does it not measure up:The Orville Redenbacher Power Pop was a -popping flop. Sorry to say, maybe because of the angle of the microwave emitter, I couldn't get the Power Pop to produce more than a few tablespoons of popped corn after four minutes of trying. Too bad, because the Power Pop lets you use bulk popcorn in the microwave, but it was no go.On the positive pop-side, although the instructions suggest you use the 1.5 oz bagged microwave corn, the 3 oz ones pop just fine, though the pre-programmed timer will not get the job done, time is too short. But around a couple of minutes and the 3 oz corn is fat and ready for the movies.I was also pleasantly surprised to see that my larger-than normal dinner plates would fit- these are 11 1/4" edge-to-edge, and still rotate without hitting the oven's interior walls. This oven does something I have never seen in a microwave: you can adjust the power level while the oven is cooking. Wow!You can also add or subtract as little as 5-seconds to your ongoing cook times. Very cool.Though I've gone down in power about 30% this oven really heats stuff up faster than you'd expect out of 700 watts. Because it's a little slower, I think it actually does a better job than the faster high-power one it replaces.(Please see my images above) The blue LED's look great, the footprint is very compact, and another cool thing: the door is elevated above the counter top a couple of inches, so it will not rake off short objects (like plates) that might be sitting in front of the door. And speaking of the door, you don't have to hit any spring-loaded releases that might push the oven back (like some other models might). You just open the door, and you're off.If that weren't cool enough, the interior light that comes on when you open the door... turns itself off after a couple of minutes if you leave the door open to let the steam out. Finally, the "I'm done" cheeps are not overly loud and I don't find them to be annoying at all. They're kind of cheerful. So bottom line, I hope they keep making these for a long time- because when this one finally wears out, I'll probably want another one.

... two different selections for this review because I both love and hate it
I was hoping there could be two different selections for this review because I both love and hate it. The design is perfect for my small kitchen with a one-person home. I just put in new counter tops and the microwave just blends right in. It works great and I couldn't be happier except for the "I hate it" part. When I unpacked this item, I found that this black microwave has a WHITE cord. I thought there must have been a mistake and I called Whirlpool to find out. Whirlpool's customer service and technical department has no idea what color the cord is. All they know is that there is no way to order a different cord. Since there was no way a white cord could remain on my black counter, I turned, once again, to Amazon where I ordered "Wire Loom Black 20' Feet 3/8" Split Tubing Hose Cover Auto Home Marine". There is still a white plug but that is acceptable. So if anyone has ordered this and needs tubing, I have 18 feet of it remaining!

Compact but powerful
Compact in size takes very little counter space. The controls are under the oven.Fits in a corner nicely. Holds standard dinner plate. Looks kind of like a TV.

Stopped working in one month
Purchased mid March, not used immediately, stopped working by mid April (less than a month). First, no heat but light and turntable working, now only clock and, very erratically, light. I wasn't sure I could adjust to the low output wattage and lack of options, but was willing to give it a try.* Trying to find out now about return or replacement.Update: Return expiration date on Amazon is 4/15 (delivery was 4/17), so that's out. I purchased Amazon's Assurant 360 Protection Plan, but that does not go into effect until after the product warranty runs out - in this case, one year. Whirlpool does not service this model - I was told I would hear from a special unit in 4-6 days whether they will replace it (no incoming phone number could be given, meaning I have to take all unsolicited calls too).*Failed at popcorn. Carrots and cabbage took forever and a day. Warmed coffee okay.

Freightliner Drivers
This product is great for the truck driver driving a freightliner 2014-2017 Model Cascadia. Fits perfectly in the shelf. Works with a 2000 Watt Inverter. Only problem I ran into is that the power cable is very short and on the wrong side. A short extension cable heavy duty is highly recommended. Cooks fast everything I have thrown in it. Worth the wait and price being OTR.

Super small Microwave
After only being able to have the 20+ year old half pint for so long, this is the first new microwave that fit's into the cubby i have for the microwave. So, the door is VERY thick- meaning it will not open fully unless the unit sit's on a counter. I did not know this. It is more powerful than my half pintand it is much prettier. So all in all a improvement. There are some things it is lacking, such as a 1minute button, you have to press the secondsto get to one or two minutes. I only use the micro for heating up things, mostly my dog's food, so it's not a big deal. The inside is roomy and verypretty with the great lighting it has. If you have a super small space, it's great, however you must consider the thickness of the door, and thefact that opening it takes a certain amount of room on the left side. On the other hand, this is the only tiny new microwave on the market, so I amglad to have it.

I loved this little microwave when it first came
I loved this little microwave when it first came. But here it is six months later and the microwave has gone crazy. It turns on by itself and ups the time up to 30 minutes with each time I try and use. If I leave it plugged in, it beeps and adjusts the time on it's own. It's crazy. Not sure if there is a short in it or what is happening. Tried on different sockets to make sure there were no power surges and it works on any socket I plug it into. Darn shame, because I love the size and little counter space it takes. Back to the drawing board Whirlpool!!
