Product Description Help Clifford's owner handle all her chores before the Big Red Dog's birthday party! / Ages 4-8 .com Based on the I Spy book series by Jean Marzollo and Walter Wick, I Spy Junior: Puppet Playhouse features puppets, games, and riddles to promote listening and problem-solving skills. An interactive story about a princess and a sneaky dragon strengthens rhyming and other word skills, a puppet-making workshop teaches kids to follow directions, and a magical animated tree helps promote early reading skills. Seven play areas in all offer a variety of fun learning activities. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); Review Handmade puppets with handsome props and imaginative backdrops set the stage for seven learning activities based on the "I Spy" search-and-learn book series that makes an art of relating riddles to images. Designed simply with the young preschooler in mind, the games range from a darling Little Lost Whale puppet show that asks children to click on the elements of the riddle found in the stage productions, to the Prop Box Game in which players sort and classify like and different objects-such as separating horses from bears. Make Your Own I Spy turns the playwrite power over to the player-but once the scene is made and the riddle done, there's no pay-off other than printing out the picture. Puppet Maker is a fun and creative activity though the guidance toward the goal is firm and awards doing it one way only while restricting the far reaches of imagination. Easy-to-understand instructions and helpful hints make sure youngsters don't get stuck or lost. Overall, the attractive graphics lend to a likeable learning environment that will compel kids to play despite the similarity of activities. A 2000 Parents' Choice® Gold Award.Reviewed by Don Oldenburg, Parents' Choice® 2000 -- From Parents' Choice®Like its sister program, I Spy Junior, this CD is based on Jean Marzallo's picture collage books and is geared toward preschoolers. Within an overall puppet show theme, there are four I Spy puzzles that tell little stories. One, for instance, tells the tale of a baby whale looking for his mother through rhymes like "I spy a hat, brown rope with a knot, two whale eyes and a crab in a pot." Children find the mentioned objects and eventually help reunite the whales. Other activities include a puppet making game where kids must listen and follow directions, a sorting game and a Make Your Own I Spy activity. All in all, this is a likable program, perhaps a bit light on content, but great for zeroing in on listening skills.Teaches: logic, following directions, listening, early reading skills Age Range: 5-8 Copyright © 2000 Children's Software Revue -- From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!" Great fun
My grandkids, aged 5 and 7, both enjoy this. I sometimes have to help them find things, but it's great fun.

Does not run on Mac OS X
I bought this for my son because my older son has the I Spy and loves it. The I Spy runs perfect on Mac OS X. So I called Scholastic and they verified that it wouldn't run on anything later than OS 9. The error I get is "You can't open the application I spy installer because the classic environment is no longer supported"So if you have a new Mac with leopard installed this won't work!

Needs proper OS
If you are putting on a Mac make sure you have Mac OS that runs in 'Classic Mode'. Most Intel Macs won't.

I Spy Junior
This is a fun, educational game for 3-5 year olds. They learn to count, make things. Definitely improves their thinking skills.

I agree - Not perfect but very good
This is a fun computer game. My 3 year old enjoys it, but finds it pretty easy. There are times in her week when such a game fits that bill. I will be buying more copies for gifts. The graphics are a little disappointing.
