I have 2 cameras but only need one locking base** A: Yes you can buy just the top piece - the camera plate - but it is $18.95, so why not spend the extra $2.00 and get the whole package? I have 5 units and attach the bottom piece to my several tripods, unipods, Joby Gorilla Pods and the Ram mounts (which I use the majority of the time). **Q: Is this the gen I or gen ii?** A: This is the Gen I.
