Shorted out but replacement rocks!
Used it for about a month and it evidently shorted out and stopped. I opened it up and one of the batteries had ruptured. I put new ones in and they instantly became very hot. I pulled them out before they started a fire. It worked great before that as long as it had fresh batteries. I do a lot of cooking and use tons of freshly ground black pepper. I was happy with this until the abrupt stoppage.Update: I received a new one without even requesting it from the seller evidently based on my review. That's amazing. I've got to pick up some batteries and will give it a whirl. Nice to see this kind of customer service. I'll let you know how this one does. The new one is grinding pepper nonstop. I love it!Update 2-5-18. It is still grinding away like crazy!Update 6-13-18 The replacement mill is till awesome!.

OK Grinder with Reliability Issues
We purchased two of these grinders as a salt & pepper set for our kitchen. We love the one-touch grinding action with an LED light to illuminate the food. Recieved the set and the one we selected to grind salt was dead on arrival. The exchange process was a bit clunky, but effective. Our replacement salt grinder lasted exactly 31 days before it stripped gears (motor turned, but the grinder wouldn't move). Amazon was gracious enough to waive the 30 day return policy and we recieved another replacement. The second replacement lasted about 10 days before it, too, went dead (motor wouldn't turn). Before requesting another replacement, I decided to disassemble the grinder to see if I could identify the problem and perhaps fix it. I disassembled the grinder, but could not identify something to repair, so I reassembled it. After reassembly, wouldn't you know ... it started operating again! Now we are the proud owners of a really stylish and functional set of salt & pepper grinders. Would love to give them 5 stars, but the reliability questions pulled them down a notch. I'll update in about 6 months. Hopefully they will continue to operate as nicely as they are now.UPDATE 6/20/17: The salt grinder failed again last night [motor runs, but shaft does not]. It's clear to me that this grinder cannot handle the hard salt crystals - DO NOT RECOMMEND for salt grinding. We're shopping for another brand. Downgraded from 4 to 2 stars.UPDATE 6/30/17: Replaced these Qvean grinders with a set of Vina Gravity Salt & Pepper Grinders. It's a little early, but here's an initial comparison ... the Vinas are far more robust and grinding the salt crystals seems to be an easy enough chore for them. What's more, here are some other features that make the Vinas much superior to the Qveans: 1) Much larger spice capacity. 2) Much easier to access and load the spice bowl. 3) No button to push. Simply tilt past horizontal and the grinder begins grinding/dispensing. Truly convenient. 4) Grinder on top when not in use means no spice debris on the countertop - a big plus for me. Look for these Vinas at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071RN27YB/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 ... a little more expensive, but well worth it in my opinion.

SALT OR PERRER MILL????
This is just another made in china product. I had previously purchased a number of "I Touchless" grinders from Woot.com and have been using them for years. A curious thing i found when i purchased this item from Amazon.....the internals of this grinder were almost exactly the same as the ones from Woot. I feel like with a very slight adjustment on casing of the grinding end i could have popped this battery/motor core directly into mine and it would have worked. Basically what i am getting at is that this grinder is essentially the same grinder that i bought off of Woot for $15.The other interesting thing that i found was that the button on the top of the grinder is actually more cumbersome that it makes it look like. When you look at the button it seems as if it would be very easy to push and activate the grinding motor, however if you don't press directly in the center of the giant button only the edges of it will go down and will not activate the motor. Furthermore, pressing the whole button down is way more difficult than my i Touchless as the button here is just a cap essentially that depresses the already present button on the universal Chinese internal core. This results in the plastic just sticking to itself when pushed down and is just for looks really. If i tore off the whole "button" it would work much better.I really wish i would have looked at the picture closer as if i did i would have noticed a ridiculous spelling error in the title of the item.....It states that it is a Salt or Perror mill......REALLY......It just points out that this is just another Chinese product that is posing to be a high quality or Professional grade item, when in reality it is produced at a minimal cost and sold at a high price for profit. The only thing that i do like about this grinder is that the adjustment of the grind is a twister at the bottom of the grinder, however from the lowest setting to the most course, there really is not much of a difference from what i can tell. The last and most minor thing is that there is no cap to set this on like my other grinders, so all the salt or pepper remnants will likely fall all over the counter. My last bit of advice here is that if you are looking to buy Chinese crap, look no further. I had not tried this grinder out at all before writing this review because i am about 95% certain that i have been using this product for a couple years now already. I would skip this item and look to other options.

Like it!
I ordered this electric pepper grinder (can probably be used for salt too) because I like a lot of pepper and I thought it would be nice to not have do endless twisting on the spice brand type. The Qvean electric pepper mill looked workable and the price was much better than the local kitchen stores. In practice I am really enjoying it. I filled with specialty pepper, set it on coarse grind and pushed the button. Ground pepper was produced in a reasonable meaningful manner. It takes 6 AAA batteries that I suppose will last awhile. I am happy with it and take it into various restaurants in addition to using it at home. It is not particularly pocketable but I do carry it around.
