Q: How much weight can this reacher lift? I am looking for something to reach into a deep washing machine and pull out clothes. At least 5 lbs?

This is exactly what I'm successfully using this for in my laundry room. It will lift 5 lbs. high enough for me to reach and pull that item out of the washer. It doesn't seem to be strong enough to lift 5 lbs. totally out of my washer, but it will lift lighter items out of the washer entirely and let me place them directly into the dryer with the PikStik.

Q: How does the rubber on the grab end hold up? The rubber on mine wore out, making it difficult to grab small items.

I found this one poor at picking up small items and actually cut the rubber to improve that. I prefer the RMS ? brand. BUT they jyst decided that we must buy a very long grabber (31 inches?) IF we want to buy the shorter one.. I find that offensive,. Unfortunately their version is morevapoealing to me.

Q: can this be used to retrieve items from liquid nitrogen tanks?

no the plastic hands would not be functional after the first dip most likely crack and decompose.

Q: Why can’t I get the ends to grip together

If you are squeezing the trigger and it is not closing it is broken.
