It is a polyester that has 1 side brushed, with a knit back. Alova is the make, and has become synonymous with the term suede cloth. If you need a faux suede, get microsuede or passion suede. I have such a hard time finding this fabric, which is huge staple for garments and plush fabrications - - you literally see it everywhere, but no where to buy it.
