Great instruction, motivation and opportunity
This book not only provides traditional patterns but also modern adaptations while providing inspiration for improvisation and creativity! I have had a lot of crochet books in my 49 years and this is one of my favorites.

Fantastic resource for the crochet library/refernce
This is everything I hoped it would be. It shows how to do some really lovely motifs and then shows how to put it all together to create one's own design. Very good resource. Even shows different mesh options one can use. Would recommend this book without hesitation. Company shipped promptly and book beautiful.

not for beginners. should know how to make padded rings/cords
The media could not be loaded. (please see my video flip through) I like the book, it's on good paper, everything is photographed in color, all the directions are written (no charts), organized in a way that makes sense. I've tried three or four and the directions are clear. My warning is for beginners. Each motif is rated from 1 to 4 on a scale. I've looked at every motif and there are no motifs rated 1 (easy) in the book. All motifs start at level 2 and go up to 4.Also, virtually all the flowers and most of the leaves required you to crochet either a padded ring or a padded cord, a large percentage require both, which is probably beyond beginners. She does give you a work around you can use but you don't get the same effect without the padding. The most baffling thing to me was the authors reference to using an inline hook. She recommends you use an inline hook. I've been crocheting for over 50 years and had never heard of this. I had to google it before I figured out what she was talking about. I must have been living under a rock all these years. I went and looked at my hooks, which are almost as old as me, and I still can't really tell you what it is I've been using, so it can't matter that much.

Greatest Book for Irish Crochet!
I'm new to Irish Crochet and was looking for a "newer" book on it. I plan to get into the antique books later on when i actually have a idea of what i'm doing. This book is AMAZING! as an advanced crocheter i have experience with crochet books and this one is VERY well written.Wonderful Pictures, clear instructions, they have it sectioned into areas. Flowers, motifs, lace the joining of the flowers & motifs.and they have easy, advanced and intermediate patterns in each area! and with and without cording. It's an excellent book for the beginner or more advanced in my opinion.I've already made several motifs and a few pieces of lace, and i've started a project. I love this book and will be recommending it to my friends!

The go-to book for Irish crochet motifs.
This is a really neat Irish crochet book, very well written, in modern terminology, which takes away the daunting task of deciphering the confusing and often vague wording of the vintage books. The motifs, however, are really authentic beautiful pieces, and the author gives you the option of using or not using padding cords.I really recommend this book to all of you crocheters who always wanted to make these beautiful Irish pieces, but were discouraged and frustrated by the difficult interpretation of the traditional vintage books..For me, it's a dream come true!

Struggling with Victorian and Edwardian Reprints? Or Perhaps Modern Russian Magazines? This is the Book to Fix That Dilemma!
Irish Crochet is a beautiful art form. Until recently, most of the books that detailed this lovely crocheted lace were either Edwardian and Victorian reprints or Russian magazines with stunning contemporary work. The problem was that none of these sources made it easy to learn the basic or intermediate steps to make motifs or put together even a scarf without serious struggle and writing or patterns and interpretation of charts. Victorian directions are legendary in the assumptions they make and crochet charts, while universal sometimes need some written instructions to end with a finished final project.Enter Irish Crochet Motis. This really teaches you how to make the motifs. It will help make the Priscilla antique booklets and the Russian magazines accessible. Learning the motifs in this book will enable the crocheter to then work with more complex forms and instructions that are lacking either due to antiquity or translation. The directions are clear and the photographs clear. Instructions are charted and written and the motifs are versions of the classic motifs that one sees in those mouthwatering garments. I bought and printed a lot of books and booklets on Irish Crochet. This one, while not the only book you will need, is definitely the key that unlocks paradise. Recommended.

Irish Crochet Beautifully Explained
The only thing I knew about Irish Crochet Motifs was that they were beautiful and they were crocheted. I'm an experienced crocheter who knew nothing about the techniques used to create Irish motifs. My knowledge was so heightened and my enthusiasm so enlightened by this book that I am making my very own Irish motif wedding dress. I have been practicing the techniques, thanks to the sample patterns and illustrations, and have created the dress outline. Now I get to select my lace patterns and start making motifs! I expect it to take me a very long time but I'm so excited! I will definitely take my time with this one. I want it to be absolutely perfect. I would not be able to even consider making my own Irish wedding dress without the guidance of this book. If you're a beginner crocheter, it may be a bit overwhelming, but if you stick with it, take your time and practice each step before learning the next, you can create Irish crochet motifs. I highly recommend this book to anyone with the slightest interest in Irish crochet.

Teleurstelling
