So, no more ants in the cat food bowls. The only problem is that you have to put a little water in the edge and then carry it to put it down. You have to be extra careful because it's really easy to spill the water out. I've learned quickly to not put much water in it but it still requires a short walk and a steady hand. I think that I might look around for something similar with removeable bowls so I can leave the water trough on the ground when it's feeding time. But, no more ants have shown up for a free meal.

Last year, we started having a problem with ants trying to get into the pet food when I fed the outside cat on a covered porch. I didn't want to use an insect killing product near the cat, so I bought a more expensive double bowl with removable metal dishes that was supposed to be ant proof. It didn't always work, and if the dishes weren't installed just right, the ants would get in through the bottom. This year, I bought two of these dishes and they have been working so well that I stopped using the other product. Sometimes the cat will push a small piece of food out onto the porch and the ants will follow, but they do not get into the food in the dish. I place dry food on one side, wet food on the other, and fill up the moat with a small amount of water - no ants in the food. Noah the cat has a raised ceramic bowl for water and the ants don't bother that at all - the problem was with the wet/dry food. No more problem.

I ended up with light blue instead of the greenish color in the picture, but the title does say that colors may vary, so I was prepared for that. I knocked off a star for that because I think customers should be able to know the color they're going to get. I'm happy wth the product overall, though. I have a terrible ant problem and this food bowl for my cats is perfect to keep ants out of the food. Yes, my cats do drop food into the moat. That's inevitable and easy to clean. Honestly I'm surprised simple moat containers like this aren't more widely available. I'm ordering another, would recommend.

This is a very small double bowl (small even for our cat... never mind for a dog). But it works.We were staying in an apartment that ants would get in under the kitchen window. Every morning they would have found the cats food and there would be a line of them between the cat's bowl and the window.This moat around the bowl stopped them. For a while we would still see still a few ants wandering around the kitchen looking, but but they either could not find, or could not get in, the bowl, and after a few days the ants were gone.

I wasn’t paying attention when I bought this, deeper bowls was what I should have went with but good quality of the product

This is a good dish although a few times I have found ants in the food. I wonder if when some of the food spills into the water moat, some ants use the food as a boat across the moat. I still like the dish though and bought 2 of them to feed some kittens.

The product description says colors will vary, but somehow they managed to send me the one color that I hate more than any other color on the face of the planet. Thankfully, I do not have to eat out of it, and I doubt my cat cares, but I would still rather not see the dish sitting around my house. A list of available colors in the description may be helpful. I probably would not have ordered it if I knew there was a chance that I'd have to suffer a color I hate. Otherwise, the product looks like it will do the job.

Okay for a small dog or cat, the dish is very small. It does help with my ant problem but the food from the dish always falls into the water on the sides so I have to wash it out daily. Also, it is a shallow dish so my kitten ends up spilling not only in the water but also on the floor as well.It works okay for the price and okay for keeping away ants (I had small ants, not sure if bigger ones would be able to still get to the food).
