universal digital feeder timer
This digital timer is one of two common designs widely available to program multiple timed events per day, then select various days of the week to activate your application or device. I have use both design types for a variety of applications. Some pros and cons for this timer relative to the other --Pros -- this timer runs off the same battery that powers the feeder motor, not a separate timer battery-- the display in this version blanks itself after a few minutes of no user activity, reducing the ongoing current drain to about half of the alternate timer design-- the display is the larger and easier to read of the two, and includes a battery charge level indicator which is useful, along with larger programming buttonscons --- the output motor drive wires must both be isolated from the battery terminals, even though one might have expected the negative battery terminal would be internally connected to the negative motor drive, this is not true. If this connection is made external to the timer, the motor drive is active constantly, regardless of timer operation. The timer is not damaged, but is also not functional. I used an optoisolator to connect the motor drive to a load that needed to be referenced to the battery negative, and that worked properly.

Manufacturer did not honor warrenty but PW Enterprises did.
This review is in praise of PW Enterprises of Wichita, KansasI purchased a Tundra Quest digital feeder timer from Amazon via PW Enterprises on Jan 13, 2010.The display screen on the timer has gone bad. 13 months after purchase. It was not abused or damaged in any way by me.On the label and on the "manual" it says "2 year warranty" and to send the timer with $10 check for warranty repair. But there is no address given on either the label or the manual. The toll free number, 1-877-436-7177, says it is "no longer in service," the web site listed on both the label and in the manual of "tundraquestllc.com" is not active.PW Enterprises stood behind the product they sold and is honoring the warranty even though the manufacture apparently is not.I encourage everyone to buy items on Amazon that are distributed via PW Enterprises,Jim

Works Well For First Year Or So
I've had three of these timers in the same 12V feeder in less than two years. They are great at first but will stop spinning the feeder motor after 10-12 months. The timer will continue to run and display perfectly. It even shows that it is sending a signal to the motor when the test button is pressed. A volt meter will indicate a small amount of current output. But, something is preventing enough current to actually spin the motor. The reset button doesn't help either.I like this timer and I like the price but I would probably not use it if I couldn't check the feeder every few weeks to be sure it was working properly. Pushing the test button will let you know if this problem has occurred.

love the multiple feed settings.
The timer itself is great love the number of feeds-8 and the ability to set it by the days of the week but the plug on the end that hooks to the motor would not work. The motor has male spade connectors on the bottom I had to cut the plug connector off and put female spade connectors on the wires. Works great now but might want to look into changing the connections for those wires.

TOO Much for Handling Fees !!!
I've ordered the timers on the pretence that all the wonderful hunters out there were correct is there assessment of the "Universal Timer", thanks for your responces. The only problem I have is that I needed four and they wanted $6.00 handling for each unit and I talked to PWS Enterprises and they had no one that could correct the situation, so I ordered two and sent them an emailed them in hopes they could correct the situation, we will see. Most online business's will charge a reduced rate for the second exact item.

which is ok if you are somewhat tech savvy and can figure out how to use something like this. Hooked unit up to 12V battery I ..
Received the timer in the mail and unboxed it. It comes with zero paperwork or instructions, which is ok if you are somewhat tech savvy and can figure out how to use something like this. Hooked unit up to 12V battery I purchased with it and it came on, but the screen was only partially working (you could see 1/2 of each number maybe and couldn't make out what was going on) and you could not set up the timer to run the feed dispenser motor. Now I'm having to return it on my own dime and wait for a refund. Haven't decided if I'll order another one or get a different timer altogether. If I order another and it works I'll change this review.
