I received the compass undamaged and on schedule. This was my first compass. I also ordered another compass.at the same time for my wife. Your compass cost a few dollars less than the other one. Frankly, I was disappointed in your compass, especially when compared to the other compass.The other compass was an EYESKEY MILITARY OPTICAL LENSATIC SIGHTING COMPASS WATERPROOF. It came with a rugged holster and had a bubble to indicate levelness. I felt that the floating compass dial on the EYESKEY was easier to read and adjust. On the downside the directions on how to use it were written with the assumption that I wasn't a beginner. This was true of both compasses. Also the EYESKEY is built to last, i.e. it's heavy. To sum up-I need to work on learning how to use the compass, and I will likely use the EYESKEY I wish I could have been more positive about the WE compass. TOM VINT

Honestly I don't know anything about compasses. What I do know is that I am directionally challenged, so Imma give it a shot.As far as construction, it's not heavy but it feels solid. I'm not sure I get how it works yet, so I can't comment on accuracy. There's a short instruction blurb on the back of the pkg, but it assumes you have a map, so it doesn't help me much.The sight line thingie on the upper piece is an actual metal thread just strung there in the opening. I'm kinda wonderin how many minutes in a pack it will take to break or stretch it.If I stand in one place and turn it a circle, it seems to generally move itself to a consistent north direction ;)That's all I can do, sorry

Not as good as the military one I used in the Army. Dial moves extremely slow.

Slight scuff marks, but overall good sturdy construction.The compass mechanism works quite well..

I bought this for my wife for her hiking. She has enjoyed it as well as her fellow hikers. It's been a good tool to have in the woods of NH as GPS isn't always reliable.
