Not only for the post-partum mom.
Because I successfully worked with Dr. Lins for weight loss, when I learned my daughter was expecting twins, and is at greater risk for post-partum depression, I wanted to read this book to be prepared to be supportive. Dr. Lins gives a thorough overview of the naturopathic approach to rebalancing the body post-partum or post-miscarriage. She provides extensive and thorough discussion of what naturopathic care can do for women's health. Some of the information is immediately practical (parsley, sage and basil may have unintended consequences in laction- who knew?) and some will give you an idea of how a MD or ND might address your symptoms with the how-to's beyond the scope of this book. As the title says, it's outlining an approach to the usual post-delivery adjustments women go through as well as the unusual, or less-common severe ones. If you already utilize herbs as remedies, you will find this book particularly useful, for example which herbs to avoid during pregnancy.

I love this book because it acknowledges the chemistry behind postpartum depression and offers natural solutions that are safe for new mothers. Naturopathic medicine supports the body and it's innate ability to heal with supportive solutions. I experienced PPD following my daughters birth nine years ago and would have loved to have known the information Dr. Lins covers in this helpful book.
