Minimal, effective, and has some caveats
I switched from a bus KVM to this. It's simple, it's minimal, it works fine out of the box. It includes all the cables, including audio.Small caveat: It uses a special, 3-headed cable. the end at the KVM has one connector instead of a USB and a video as I expected. the end at the computer has two, of course. Also, as you'd expect, it only has 15-pin VGA connectors. If you need to connect to a DVI port you'll need an adapter. Fortunately, these adapters are common and cheap. Some special caveats. These may be common to all USB KVMs, or at least the lower-end ones (I can see needing some decent USB firmware on the KVM to avoid them): * The video switches quickly, but the keyboard and mouse aren't available for about 5 seconds * If you have a DirectInput app running on the machine you are switching *to*, it may get a little confused when you arrive and the USB keyboard and mouse suddenly seem to be alive. It freezes up Lord of the Rings Online for 20 seconds or so every time. * I'm using a bus keyboard through a bus-to-USB adapter, so this may be an artifact of that, but the media keys (play, mute, volume down, etc.) don't work. Some apps see them as different keys altogether, which is potentially bad. It also really hurts to lose the media keys, which I use a lot (mostly mute/unmute). I'm hoping getting a USB keyboard will resolve that. * The hotkeys for switching require that the computer you are switching *from*: - be running Windows - be powered on and not locked up - have the included KVM software installed and running - *not* have a DirectInput app take the focus and steal the keyboard. This means most games will block the hotkey while they are the active appIf any of these are not true, you have to resort to using the buttons on the KVM, so put it in a convenient place.Even with those warts, I'm probably not returning it. The price is right and it's all set up for me. A decent KVM if you can live with those.

It locks up from time to time
I set this up when I got a new personal laptop, so I now have 3 laptops going for the time being.I got it 11 days ago, and today it locked up for the second time. On the machine I was using, I got a popup that a USB device had failed. My keyboard and mouse were inoperative, and it wouldn't let me switch using the buttons on the device. The only solution each time was to unplug all the laptop-connecting cables from the device, which removes power from it.I tried getting support, and the linkskey.com site is down at the moment. If I get support in the future, I'll update this review. The site was back the other day, but it was down for a while. I got a pretty quick response, with a recommendation that I change the PC power settings to avoid turning off USB power.Final update: changing power settings made things better, but it still locks up every couple of weeks. They did explain that pulling the USB connector from all connected computers causes the restart, which is easier than unplugging all the cables. So I can live with it, but would not buy it again.

Recommended solution.
Plug and play as they say! Worked as advertised and installation is a breeze. These ps/2 designed kvm switches are getting harder to find. Reliable ones even harder! I recommend this Linkskey 4 port and am happy with the ease of use and simple install. Sound, video, mouse and keyboard.

Easy to set up and it works like a charm
Easy to set up and it works like a charm. The only negative comment I have is, like a lot of other computer products you buy, the cords are never quite long enough - otherwise I would give it 5 star.

No problems.
It just works. I rarely have to think about it. There are a multitude of hot-key options, I just use the basic hot-key option to switch the audio, video, mouse and keyboard all together. I have used this with Windows XP, Windows 7 and Linux with no problems.
