We've spent the last few years at MenEssentials regularly introducing new wet shavers to the world of double edge razors, discussing what brought them to the point where they wanted to make a change, and what they want in a first razor. We've also spent a lot of time looking at how razors are marketed (both cartridge and double edge) and have put a lot of thought into how we could make wet shaving more accessible to everyone. What became clear to us was that the "holy grail" of making this kind of shaving more accessible to people was to market a quality double edge razor at a price point low enough that cost would no longer be a major factor in someone's decision of whether or not to give wet shaving a try, simultaneously putting traditional shaving hardware squarely into the same entry price level as buying a cartridge razor starter pack. We also wanted to make sure the quality was high enough that an experienced traditional shaver would feel comfortable buying this as a gift for someone they're trying to convert to double edge shaving, or for when keeping it for themselves. We've also noticed a consistency among new shavers being drawn to the butterfly design as they've told us they feel it's potentially safer or "less fiddly" when it comes to inserting blades, and also is the design they generally remember a father or grandfather using back when Gillette razors were still commonly in use. After over a year of looking at various designs we finally found what we were looking for....
