Sweet memorial for a sweet pom

I bought this for my Shih Zhu who recently died and the plan was to use it for his Gravestone outside.When I received the product, I think I may have received a "Returned" or "Open box" product because the box was opened when I received it and so were the contents inside.I wanted to really like this, and the overall outer material seemed to be made pretty well. However, there is a major flaw in the design...As soon as I took the product out of the box, the square glass cover for the photo frame/guard fell out and it would hardly stay in place without wiggling loose or sliding out. This becomes a problem if you plan on using this outdoors with an inlaid photo of your deceased pet. The rainwater will easily get through the seams of the glass area and damage the photo.To get around this issue, I had an idea to caulk the base of the stone to keep the photo and glass from sliding out and to help weatherproof it. I then painted over the caulk to make it blend in and be less noticeable, but after our first hard rain, water still managed to drip through the photo frame's crevices and get underneath the glass -- which completely ruin my dog's memorial picture. I probably should have caulked the inner frame as well, but it didn't seem apparent at the time. I don't if this is a manufacturing flaw, but with a picture inside the photo glass, it's really not put together well enough to use outdoors without some caulking or tweaking.So, if you plan on using this outdoors, then be aware you will have to figure out a way to keep the water out of the photo as the glass doesn't stay in place and has open seams all the way around it.As a test, I will be replacing the photo and putting it in a collector's card sleeve for extra protection and adding silicone caulk (due to its transparent properties) to the stone picture frame seams where it meets the glass in hopes of preventing future damage.Also, I should note, the text on the right side of the stone was very noticeably halfway faded and dull -- and not as bold or vibrant as the text on the left side of the stone. I suspect this is why it may have been returned as well as the slipping glass and photo problem.

We had to make the most difficult drcision to put our dog to sleep this past week. Scarlett was with us for 16.5 years. She had a long time with our family, but her health the last few years made her quality of life poorer. I told my husband that even still i couldnt just let her go because her senses were dulled that she would tell us one day when it was time. Friday came and her breathing was difficult so i knew whether we were ready or not she was. I made the call and then they told me to come on Monday. I had two days to ponder everything, so the only thing I could do to was keep busy. I thought about how we would like to pay tribute and disvovered your stones on Amazon. The saying was the perfect sentiment for how we all felt. I purchased this and received it as promised on Monday afternoon. It came in perfect condition and I am so glad that I purchased this when i did. After we put our dog Scarlett to sleep we were all in shock and devastated. My son who is 6 really didnt understand how to cope. We did not let him see the process and so he felt left out of her passing i think. We tried to comfort each other but when the stone arrived, we gave him the opportunity to place it where he wanted to.We explained this is where Scarlett was buried and he could visit her anytime he wanted to. He said afyer placing that stone and reading it he felt better. I believe its message was simple enough for him to understand and help him find some relief. Thank you for your product in our family's loss. I cant say enough about what it means to our family to have had the opportunity to purchase this and for it to gave come timely.

It had a beautiful saying that fit my beloved pug, Charlie. He was such a happy little guy, and it fit how we felt. It made me happy.
