Less isn't always More
For $16 or so, I should have expected less than I did. This dog chilling collar is a 12 inch long, medium blue, stretchy tube of thin, absorbent synthetic material that fits over a dog's neck like the fake turtle neck that people may wear to imitate a turtle neck sweater without the warmth. The chill collar is supposed to be moistened and pulled over the dog's head, then over the neck and the regular leash collar if the dog is wearing one. There is a slit in the middle of the chill collar through which you can push the regular collar's steel ring so the leash can be attached. The theory is that the water absorbed by the collar evaporates, and the conversion of the water to vapor requiring energy absorbs heat from the dog's neck under the collar. This cools the muscles of the neck and the major underlying arteries and veins, thus cooling the dog, especially its head. It should make the dog more comfortable when exercising in hot weather, and more important, help prevent heat stroke and exhaustion, to which dogs are more susceptible than humans. Although I accept the theory and the physics of it, the results are in question. I see no apparent reduction in my dog's fatigue, nor in the level and duration of his panting after 20 minutes of walking and brief periods of running. It is possible that the very high humidity we recently experienced interferes with the evaporation from the collar enough to reduce its effectiveness. It may also be that a 120 lb, short haired, very muscular dog requires much more surface area for heat exchange than the 12 inch collar provides. Maybe a larger design of the same material, like a cape that covers most of the back, would provide more cooling. It would also reduce heat absorption by reflecting more sunlight away from the dog.

Amazingly effective -- highly recommended!
My 12 1/2 year old German Shepherd was recently diagnosed as suffering from laryngeal paralysis and in recent weeks has started panting heavily even on relatively cool days. Today was the first warm day of the spring and I tried the K9 Chill Dog collar on her. Instant relief! She seems a lot brighter and more chipper and is definitely panting way less. Even though it has to be wet down with cold water every couple of hours or so, it's incredibly effective! If you have a dog that overheats easily or has breathing difficulties, I highly recommend this!

Cooling collar
The K9 Chill Cooling Collar I bought for our English Mastiff seems to be helping to keep her cooler along with the cooling mat she lays on. It is easy to put on and to remove from her neck, stretchy enough to do without making her uncomfortable at all. I'm glad we bought it and I hope she is too.

Cools down Dogs
My large dog has cancer and larengeal paralysis, plus mobility issues. He's almost 14. He absolutely loves his daily walks but pants terribly and has a hard time cooling down afterwards. This collar works wonderfully. My husband forgets to put it on him when he walks them so i usually wind up wetting it and wringing it out. I usually put it over his entire head like a do-rag. He will shake it down to a collar lol. It does cool him down.

Not as helpful for my dog as I had hoped
I have an old, large basset hound and he now enjoys spending the majority of his time outside in our backyard. Given the sweltering heat we have had recently, I wanted to make sure he was staying cool. I had bought a cooling mat for him to lay on which he pretty much ignored, so I figured something wearable would force him to cool off in the heat. I received the product (a size large for a 75lb basset hound) and followed the directions as instructed, which was pretty simple. He wasn't keen on wearing it but I got it on him. It didn't appear to have any impact. It was warm again within 15 minutes. Additionally, since he has a thick fur coat, I felt that any cooling it provided was only superficial on the top of his coat and didn't really cool his body down. Overall, I was underwhelmed. This product might be better suite to animals with shorter, thinner coats.

Just a wet rag
I have a few cooling towels for myself. I usually put one on my dog, so I decided to get her a dog specific one that would stay wrapped around her neck. What a waste of money! This doesn't cool like my other cooling towels. I've tried it multiple times, used in different environments, "snapped" it so much...and nothing. I tried to return it, and no joke Amazon didn't even want it back! Just by a regular cooling towel for your pup. This will do nothing.

Worth $10 but no miracle
Ok product. It does what it says but wasn't super helpful for my golden retriever. It only stays cold for a little while. I usually freeze mine overnight which really helps!!!

Not worth it!
it's not like I expected it at all! I feel like I just wasted my money to be honest with you he just wore it one day and really didn't do nothing so I just wasted my money and I just have it there in a zip bag! basically it was 18 something almost 20 with shipping and all and I just feel like throwing it away! I really don't like to put nothing negative but I need to say the truth because I don't want no one else to be wasting there money! I had read a review of someone saying the same thing but I still decide to buy it, boy was I wrong!

Disappointing
It's ok. Not any different than wetting any other fabric. And it bunches up so really only covers a small strip around our dog's neck not a wide coverage as shown in the advert pictures. I bought a bandana style of another product made of different material after this purchase and am much happier with that result.

This cooling collar is great! My 120 pound lab/rotti who is all black really has a hard time between April and September. We are restricted to walking him in the early morning or late at night so he doesn't over heat...this collar has been keeping him cooler, panting way less and way more comfortable! Love it!

Cool Didn’t Last
It did not hold it’s cool temperature for as long as expected, maybe only an hour or so. It made my dogs neck even more sweaty and warm than it would have been without it.I bought a cooling towel from the pet section from Walmart (under $3) and it was still cool to the touch several days later!

Not worth the purchase
This was a useless product. It maintains the water and cool temperature as sold but it has no effect on the dog or the heat to the dog. I found it ineffective.
