Review: First experience using remote switch. Impressed - Longest distance i tried was very short at maybe 100meters. Works just as it should. Something that might help you decide on which switch to get... I forgot this little system outside after a simple test, so it was exposed to the elements. 3 days of rain and 3 nights below freezing. When I finally got around to retrieving it, the cheap antique stamped steel case i put it all inside of was totally flooded as well as frozen. I attached pics of the circuit boards. No real damage but had very minor corrosion that I buffed completely away before reinstalling (forgot to take pics of the inside of the switch, only remote, but the switched looked better than the remote so theres that. I ised air to blow off all the water and then put everything dismantled into a dessicator and made sure to forget about it for several days. Long story short... even though it was submerged in water and frozen/thaw/frozen for 3 days it works perfectly fine and looks as it did before being left outside in an open box. Ive gotten it to function all the way down to 7.5 volts btw. Somewhere around there youll notice itll work but very unreliably... which is fine because its rated for 12v not half that. I went with this one because I gotta stop always buying the cheapest option because when I do that, long term (or sometimes very short term), I end up with nothing or needing to reorder a replacement. Dont need to most expensive option but going with a higher quality item is almost always a win in the end. This thing works and can handle the elements short term. But id definitely invest in a small waterproof box/lockbox with strong magnets on the exterior to at least have the option to easily mount it out of the way while you work. That also gives it the option to be concealed in very creative ways in order to help keep honest people honest... or simply just to make the whole DIY rat nest disappear out of view while allowing you to have remote control. After this whole mishap, im about to get myself one of these cases like, now. Dont have the link but theres a small magnetized combo lockbox with a built in cable lock. Its black and is marketed as a "under vehicle mount lockbox/stash box with magnets" or something like that. Any search resembling something even similar to that will show it, as well as many other similar things. I believe theres a 2 pack for like $25ish and a 1 pack for only alittle bit less so if you happen to look into it and go with the one I just described, make sure to check if theres a 2 pack package deal. Its basically buy one, get a second one 80% off (disregarding the more accurate "buy one for 1000% cost of production, get a second one for only 200% cost of production for a whopping total of 40% real savings, yes "real" savings, since all of those spreads are out of your control bub." Otherwise, setup is a no brainer and everything you need to know is printed on the plastic front cover. No paper necessary. Id guess this specific switch is the best bang for the average buck. You can get better for more money but if you just want it to work Reliably then just get this one. Not the sexiest either but the lockbox nullifies any fugly it may have. Gives me the feel of "old school almost antique electronics that look obviously mass produced but yet, nobody cut any corners and built it to last". Like the bulky opaque plastic Dcell flashlight that still works even though your grandma bought it on a camping trip when she was 16. That feel is what i get with this thing. But subjective feelings of a barely weekend warrior aside, one last detail i noticed and maybe it means something as to its quality but the relay is resin encased and all the solder is clean as well as laid on quite thick IMO. Im gonna go out on a limb here and say the longevity on these will be very good. Now im looking at 120-240volt versions because these are so useful. Its like paying $20 to have a butler stand next to any one electrically powered/started devoce you own that has a power button/switch and wait for your bell before flipping the switch on or off. He lives there 24/7 and just waits for you to ring the bell so he can flip the switch up or down. That cruel yet lavish setup is what this thing really does. Its also great for sketchy projects. This thing combined with any cheap $10-20 wifi camera can eliminate the need for expensive safety measures like polycarbonate shielding when you want to see whats happening but also know shrapnel of any material can be deadly. No need for elaborate safety measures, just plug your control wires into your little black box you made, slap it magnet side down onto the steel support beam in your garage to avoid cluttering your apparently already hazardous work area, flip the arming switch or lighed rocker switch you proudly installed earlier, and with all the correct lights lit the way you designed them to be lit at that moment, you turn to leave and walk right out the door and continue onwards until your in your house. This distance isnt necessity but where else better to remotely operate a dangerous science experiment than from the comfort of your own living room? Nowhere. Now pull your phone out, bring up your camera feed, screenshare it to your smart TV, and for a total of <$50, we really begin to see the benefit of owning these little devices.
Review: Does what I need it to do. - I own and run a small airsoft field in Northern Maine. Traditionally, I've used a tiny little gas-powered boat horn to start/stop games. While effective, I needed to be in a central location so all the players could hear it. It hasn't been a problem, but I felt I could find an easier way to do this. So, I came across a random video of a guy who put horns on an electric drill. I thought that was super cool, but the initial problem remained: I would have to still actuate the horn with my trigger finger. I needed to build this thing so I could introduce an RF relay into the system, which I did. I put the B0C22WDR89 horns on an ammo can, installed this relay, but kept the switch in the circuit so I can either fire off the horns remotely, or via the momentary button on the box itself. Not only does this setup work through over 1,200' of woods, but I can hear it. Over 1,000' it's rather faint, but definitely still audible. Then again, the horns were pointed straight up in the air during the test. I hope with the setup I describe below it'll be more audible at distance. Regardless, the proof of concept works. I will be adding 3 more horn sets on the top of a 10' piece of conduit, pointing 90° from each other. I will keep my little ammo can as the base unit to house this awesome little RF relay, and the morning of game day, I will take this monstrosity out to the field in the central location from where I tested it today, and I will have an absolutely amazing (and LOUD) game on/game over signal that I can trigger remotely as needed. "A" button is programmed for game on/game over - a five second blast. "B" button is programmed for a momentary blast.. like a 2-minute warning. I'm honestly pleasantly surprised this thing worked through as many trees as it did.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solved my distance problem
*by E***. on March 19, 2026*

This long range gate transmitter solved my problem. My driveway gate is just over .1 mile away from my house. All my other gate remotes couldn't operate my gate from that distance. This remote solved my distance problem. I did have to add a 12v relay to this unit so that I could get a true momentary ground (-) contact that my gate control needed. Picture shows the receiver and 12v relay mounted in my Lazy Gate control box lid.
