Beautiful oil lighter, well worth the price.
Lighter is very high quality. It is small but fluid last 3 times longer than a standard Zippo, because it is completely sealed the fluid doesn't evaporate.

Finest Lighter I've Owned.
They say, "they don't make them like that any more." Yes they do. The workmanship of this lighter is top tier. The materials are premium. Even the presentation. This is the quality you might have found Mid-Century or earlier. The reputation this company has earned is well founded. Top quality.

Yeah, wont leave home without it !
Worth every penny, has fired every single flic for months now. Great size, well built, works like a fine watch. Only downside is small gas tank, as a heavy smoker i must fill it every day .I have bought several to give as gifts, they are that nice!!! Bout time i bought something nicer than maker claims it is!!!!

Well made
This lighter is probably one of my favorites close behind of course my ST Dupont lighters. The Douglass field L always lights so its dependable, made out of Solid brass so its durable and affordable.

Lovely Lighter, but the tolerances were not as small as stated in description.
I started off my lighter collection with Zippos. I enjoy the many designs and art that Zippo creates. Zippos had two flaws though: fuel evaporation and a flimsy hinge. I searched far and wide for the perfect lighter. One that was durable and held onto fuel a little longer. On one of my facebook groups, someone had posted a picture of a Douglass Field-S lighter. For the life of me, I could not find a brass version of the S style. They were sold out every where. I stumbled upon the L variant and watched many videos and reviews and finally decided to purchase it.It arrived very quickly and the packaging was very pleasing to the eyes. I liked how the lighter reminded me of a bygone era, and the packaging went hand in hand with that reminiscing. I pulled the lighter out, and was disappointed that the flint rod was not parallel with the main body of the lighter. This offset creates a problem with the top lid not closing flush, which allows for quicker evaporation of the fuel. The description says that all their lighters are within a small tolerance, mere millimeters. This "top notch craftsmanship" is a lie with the one that I received. However, over time I have learned to over look this imperfection due to my wife stating that "do you think a trench lighter back in WWI would have been perfect?" I am disappointed that for this price of $100 it is not perfect, but I have learned to accept that it is what it is. I love the brass materials and how it is gaining a nice patina from handling it. It is a beast of a lighter and one that I would be proud to pass down to my child. I get many compliments on it, and when I pass it around on the smoke deck, the guys state that they want one of these bad boys.I am docking the one star due to that offset flint section, but this lighter is a great addition to a lighter collection. It will last many lifetimes. I can't keep my hands off of it. I enjoy the look and feel of this lighter.
