It works well but not great. My dog does stay more relaxed with this method however it is difficult to trim very much off of each nail with this tool

I wish I would have bought a regular trimmer
The motor on this thing is not strong enough to trim my dog's nails. My German Shepherd doesn't mind the sound but my Westie hates it and will not let me use this on her.

Affordable, effective, compact.
This is an excellent grinder. Previously, I was using a dremel-style grinder. It worked OK, but had a tendency if my Shih Tzu's hair got caught in it, to trap a LOT of hair - all wrapped around the dremel head. My poor dog did not appreciate having his hair pulled! With this style, there are three grinding chambers, and each is labeled in the little instruction sheet. My Shih Tzu doesn't find the noise annoying, - more of a high-pitched bee buzzing sound than an electric one, and it's really easy to manage a small unit like this while holding a dog's paw. The grinding is extremely good, and easy to manage, which no chance of trapping hair. I went straight to the "heavy" section of the grinder and was able to do each of my Shih Tzu's nails in seconds. Great stuff. My only minor complaint is that the cap on the grinder is made of very smooth plastic, so if your hands aren't very dry it's a little tricky to get purchase to pull the cap off. I'd recommend switching to a cap with some grip on it, like part of the body has.Overall, this is an excellent grinder, and really good value! The dog-bone shaped power button is also really adorable.4.75 stars out of 5. Highly recommended, and - most importantly - has the Shih Tzu Seal of Approval. As a side-note, there are a quite a few "copy-cat" pet nail grinders out there. They all look about the same, with very small design differences - usually with the battery compartment. This Mengar version does NOT include 2x AA batteries like some other models do, but other than that, they really are identical in terms of functionality.*Free sample received for objective review*

Three Stars
Works great for small dogs, not so much for bigger ones.

Not worth it.
Don't waste your money. The grinding surface is garbage. It takes a few minutes just to dull a cat claw's tip.
