Outstanding recordings by the great and underestimated voice of Ken[Festus Hagan,Gunsmoke&Jim Buckley,Ripcord]Curtis.Material on the CD is SOME of Ken's solo work as well as lead vocalist with the Sons Of The Pioneers from 1949-53.After all Ken had the distinction of being the 1st singer to replace"Old Blue Eyes",Sinatra in the Tommy Dorcey band,when Frank took a 3 month hiatus in Sept.1941.Dick Haymes replaced F.S. when he quit the band for good.Curtis had big hits with the Pioneers with A Roomful Of Roses,I'll Take You Home Kathleen,My Gal is Purple,Bold Indian Man[later 3 from the best selling soundtrack Rio Grande with John Wayne circa 1949-50]Ken was also lead vocalist of the Pioneers when i believe they were the 1st Country/Western group to headline Carnegie Hall in 1950.Ken Curtis said it was the proudest moments of his musical career.Some of these tracks were recorded latter in his life and the vocals weren't as great but still treasures.

Ken Curtis is such a surprise. I knew he sang with the Sons of the Pioneers, but didn't know he sang with the Dorsey orchestra. This cd is a great mix through his song and character history. Loved each and every cut.
