It serves it's purpose well. We use it as a lock on our receptionist window to keep window temporarily locked when we step away or need something to keep window closed.Would not use it as a line of defense or as a permanent security lock, because if someone had the time, they could probably try to slowly unscrew the screw holding the ratchet bar in place.The plastic that holds it to the window would break easily and the metal part would scratch glass if tightened too much. But can be held in place or prevent scratching with a little rubber.

The first lock was defective and Amazon provided a refund. The vendor contacted me and sent a replacement. The replacement sent by the vendor was noticeably much more robust and more well made than the first. Amazon possibly got this one mixed up with similar product made by others. I suggest that you contact the vendor to be sure you get one of theirs, as there is a big difference in quality.

I actually used this on a metal cabinet with a sliding door and it works great. I don't worry folks can get into the cabinet with employee info in it. And, I am compliant by keeping the info secure. It worked well and just took a second to attach.

Bought this to replace an older sliding glass door lock that had rusted out due to improper storage before I received the gun cabinet. It was easy to install once I looked up a YouTube video on how to install it. Please note that even tightened all of the way, it doesn't feel terribly securely affixed. It will still do its job- you can't get into the cabinet without breaking the glass- but it can slide up and down on the door it's installed on. If my glass doors were thicker, maybe this wouldn't be a problem? Second problem- the side where you slide in the lock doesn't stand off from the glass (it's flush), so you have to bend it out every time you re-lock the cabinet. That's mildly annoying, but doesn't affect its ability to function.

To preface this, I am NOT using this product correctly, and therefor it works perfectly.I purchased this as the school site I work at has a trophy case that one of my students lost the lock to. It already has the bar attached into the display case, but no lock. This would not work with the one the school had, nor could I get it to fit on the window frame as it was too slim to fit. I was however able to skip the lock of and it fit the pre-installed bar perfectly! This product does. It work on its OWN bar though! If it locks, it can just slide off!

Took me less than 60 Seconds to install and test to make sure that it worked. I would definitely say this is super easy to use and super easy to install
